Sin Tiempo Ni Espacio

LP (Item 922451) Disc Jockey (Argentina), 1974 — Condition: Near Mint-

(Recent Mexican reissue on La Ciruela Electrica. Cover has a lightly bent corner.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Azteca

Azteca
Columbia, 1972. Very Good Gatefold
A crowning moment for the west coast Latin scene in the 70s – a wonderful Bay Area set that brings together some of the best talents working on that scene at the time! The set's got a great blend of modes – Latin soul, touches of funk, and plenty of the jazzy inflections you'd expect ... LP, Vinyl record album

Landy Nova

De Ahora Palante
Inca, 1974. Very Good-
A lasting classic from the great Landy Nova – a 70s salsa session at the core, but one that also seems to carry on some of the energy of the Latin Soul generation too! Landy handled all the songs and arrangements himself – and the lyrics are a mix of English and Spanish, sung by Chino ... LP, Vinyl record album
Gema, 1964. Very Good-
El Gran Combo are at the height of their early power here – really romping in a pre-boogaloo mode with lots of jala-jala rhythms – upbeat grooves that are topped with lots of jazzy horns, including some especially nice saxophone lines from Hector Santos, which really deepens the sound ... Tito Rodriguez

Mambo Madness
Tico, 1959. Good
Mambo Madness indeed – and a fair bit of cha cha craziness as well! The album's a simple but tremendous little set from Tito Rodriguez – a great illustration of the power he had at his early best, without any of the overdone trappings of his later records from the star years. As with ... LP, Vinyl record album

A Bailar La Cumbia
Columbia, Early 60s. Very Good
Tight record of earlier Cumbia stuff, recorded by Columbia as part of their great Latin series from the early 60's (when the Catskills market was big enough to make it worthwhile for major labels to put this stuff out). And although the liner notes claim that the Cumbia's great because you can ... LP, Vinyl record album

Van Dyke Parks

Song Cycle
Warner, 1968. Very Good
Van Dyke Parks' masterpiece – and one of the hippest records to come out of LA in the 60s! The album's a strangely anachronistic one – steeped in the kind of past-days scoring found on early records by Harpers Bizarre and Randy Newman (both of which Parks had a hand in!), wrapped ... Atco, 1969. Very Good- 2LP Gatefold
Some great funky grooves by this legendary British ensemble – featuring excellent keyboard work by Brian Auger, recorded during the period when he was really beginning to stretch out a bit, and hit a much more open-ended kind of sound.
