Lost & Found

LP (Item 922376) Famm Limited, 2018 — Condition: Near Mint-
Gatefold

The fantastic first full-length set from Jorja Smith – a British singer who first rose to fame working with Drake, but who's very much her own woman on this powerful debut! Jorja's got this snakey style of singing – very seductive, especially when wrapped around the beats of the tunes – a mode that's maybe not totally unfamiliar, but which is perfectly delivered in her hands – set to backings that are nicely understated in all the right ways, and which leave plenty of space for the personal, thoughtful lyrics of the tunes. Slightly underground for now – but sure to be huge very soon! Titles include "February 3rd", "On Your Own", "Wandering Romance", "Lost & Found", "Teenage Fantasy", "Where Did I Go", and "Lifeboats".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(EU pressing.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Universal, 2002. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A tough title to live up to – but Raphael makes it happen! Amos Lee

Amos Lee
Blue Note, 2005. Near Mint-
A pretty sweet batch of soulful, coffee house folk pop from Blue Note upstart Amos Lee – who's clearly being positioned by the label as a potential male Norah Jones – but don't hold it too much against him! Lee's got a husky, strong voice, and he emotes in a natural style with roots in ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sony (UK), 1993. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
The group's first full length album – and a classic batch of soulful funky tunes, handled with the charm and care that would make Jamiroquai one of the best new soul acts to come out of the UK during the 90s. Your Good Thing
Capitol, Late 60s. Very Good+
Another one of the really good Lou Rawls albums from the late 60's. David Axelrod produced, and the drums are nice and hard, especially on "I Can't Make It Alone", which he arranged. Other tracks include "Give Me Your Love" (not the Curtis Mayfield song), "When She ... LP, Vinyl record album

I Cried For You
Cadet, Early 60s/Late 60s. Very Good+
Fantastic Johnny "Guitar" Watson album, and one that features him playing no guitar at all! Instead, he plays piano, and with a nice bluesy style that sounds great. He sings mostly standards, but in a fantastic way that twists them inside out, and that gives them all these great soulful ... LP, Vinyl record album

Songs In The Key Of Life
Tamla, 1976. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
A sweet little double LP – one that had some folks saying that Stevie should have stayed away from the "2LP syndrome", but for us a real treasure with lots of hidden gems. Besides the hits "Isn't She Lovely" and "Sir Duke", which were more than enough to carry ... LP, Vinyl record album

Silent Running
Decca, 1971. Very Good+
Peter Schickele – aka PDQ Bach – did the soundtrack for this creepy early 70s space thriller, and it's a lot different than most of the work he did under his more famous pseudonym. Most tracks are spare and spooky – with some off-kilter strings that give a bit of a spacey feel, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Carnival
Arista Freedom, 1974. Very Good+
An unusual record for Randy Weston – a freewheeling live set recorded at Montreux in 1974, with Billy Harper joining Weston's group on tenor and flute, playing long spiritual solos that work wonderfully next to Weston's spiralling piano lines! Harper's searching quality really opens up the ... LP, Vinyl record album
