Discofil (with bonus tracks)

CD (Item 922010) Panton/GAD (Poland), 1979 — Condition: Used
$4.99 ...

CD

Disco grooves from 70s Poland – music that might seem like a joke at first glance, but which comes off quite nicely – thanks to lots of keyboard work on moog, Hammond, Arp, and Fender Rhodes! The keyboards are really the star of the set – even though there's vocals from keyboardist Peter Orm on many cuts – but the approach is relatively stripped-down and lean, less American disco than that moment when some of the European groups who might have once been prog shortened their songs, upped the rhythms, and allowed for lots of nice keyboard elements – ala the Italian groups in the Cosmic scene! Peter's partner in the group is Pavel Orm, who handles guitars and bass – and titles include "Magic Fly", "Chime Course", "Further & More", "Chess King", "Weekend", "Winding Off The Tape", "Boomerang", and "It's Only Moon Of Know Of Us". CD features bonus tracks – single versions of "Boomerang", "Fany & Any", "Carousel", and "Magic Fly".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Troop

Troop
Atlantic, 1988. Used
We like the fact that Troop's hairdresser gets credit on the back of this LP, even though they're all wearing gheri curls. Given the hairstyle, we probably don't need to tell you much about the sound of this Chuckii Booker and Gerald Levert produced new jack LP. Includes "Mamacita", ... CD

An insane classic from one of the wildest funk bands ever! According to reports, George Clinton and the band cut this set in a marathon 48-hour stretch in the studio – working like mad all night and day long, after dropping a motherlode of some mighty fine acid! We don't know if that story's ... CD

Chill Out
FTG, 1985. Used
Nothing chilled out here – as this Chill comes from the time before heavy hip hop usage of the word, and instead has a nicely upbeat sort of groove! There's a definite 80s sort of vibe going on here – thanks to keyboards and drum programs from Chuckii Booker, who's certainly left his ... CD
