Street Troubadour (US version with bonus track)

CD (Item 920341) Dialogue/Lightyear, 2002 — Condition: Used
$1.99 ...

CD

Compelling work from Andreus – an underground Chicago singer with a very unique approach! Andreus is really trying for the "street" in the title of this one – blending a smoother NuSoul mode with some heavier and more political influences. The result is a mixture of R&B, hip hop, and some classic styles that help situate the album in a Chicago soul trajectory that stretches back to the early days of Curtom. Titles include "Who Am I", "Daddy Please", "Child Of Life", "Hey Young World", "Mary Ann", "Ghetto Music", and "For The Love Of Money". The US version of the CD also includes the bonus UK mix of "Mississippi".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Peven Everett

Back Home
Studio Confessions, 2001. Used
Great work from the Nu Soul underground! The CD's a self-produced 5 track ep from Chicago multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Peven Everett – and it's got a unique approach that's feels a bit like a "workshop" approach to cutting tracks. There's strands of African influences, ... CD

Sony (Japan), 2000. Used
The fourth album by Mondo Grosso – and maybe their best to date! Unlike some of the earlier records, which noodled around a bit too much (although not that much), this is a totally solid record, with a very united set of tracks, and a heck of a lot more music than you get on some of their ... CD

Peven Everett

My Brazil
Studio Confessions, 2003. Used
A really unique record from Peven Everett – very different than most of his other work, but equally great! The "My Brazil" reference in the title hints at the style of the work – a bossa-inspired session that has Peven singing gently and soulfully, with mostly just acoustic ... CD
