Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Sly & The Family Stone

Fresh
Epic, Early 70s. Used
Sly's leaping into the air on the cover of this one – and for good reason too, given the overall groove of the set! The album's a bit more stripped-down and upbeat than the previous few – almost more of a return to the simple funky style of the first albums, but with a slightly more ... CD

Sly & The Family Stone

Small Talk (with bonus tracks)
Epic, 1974. Used
Sly's still doing pretty nice for himself in 1974 – with a sound that's perhaps a bit warmer than on the early records, but still nice and soulful – and peppered with a good dose of funk! The groove is really great on the set – bubbling with a more "deep down" feel than ... CD
Epic, 1981. Used
One of those bright, charismatic Billy Ocean records from a couple years before his massive pop soul crossover – just a sublime 80s club groover that pumps along at a nice mid tempo clip – a real favorite around these parts! This was Billy's debut for Epic and there's plenty of ... CD

Sly & The Family Stone Greatest Hits
Epic, 1970. Used
Almost a "greatest hits" of greatest hits albums – one of those collections that almost sold more copies than all the full albums by the artist – forever earning Sly & The Family Stone a place in record collections around the globe! All the hits are here, laid out back to ... CD
Epic/Sony (Japan), 1980. Used
One of Mtume's sweet mellow soul records for Epic from the early 80's. Like Norman Connors, another soul jazz drummer who decided to go for a smooth soul approach, Mtume has a nice laidback feel on here, with good jazzy production backing up a number of vocal tracks aimed at the modern soul crowd. ... Another nice one from Sade – perhaps not as edgey as some of her earlier work, recorded in a slightly smoother style, but still quite nice to our ears – as Sade's always been a pleasure, no matter what the setting! Includes the nicely grooving "Nothing Can Come Between Us", ... CD

Graham Central Station

My Radio Sure Sounds Good To Me
Warner/Collectables, 1978. Used
Larry Graham's opening his sound up a fair bit for this one – bringing in a bit more of a rock influence than before, and letting the guitars fly all over the tunes! The style's one that's almost got a bit of a pre-Prince influence – more tightly poppy in the construction of the soul, ... CD

Ohio Players

Contradiction
Mercury, 1976. Used
An overlooked bit of mid 70s funk from the Ohio Players – cut right at the height of their brilliant Mercury years! The album's got a smooth and slinky finish that has the band tightening up a lot from their Westbound years – going for a compressed spacey soul sound on some of the ... CD
