This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
These early Osibisa records always used to be fairly common years back – perhaps because they were always a bit too hippy dippy and loose for the older funk crowd. But now, in today's blunted groove culture, they seem to have found a new appreciation for their trippy Afro funk style, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of Big Black's better LPs for UNI, and one that features stripped down conga groove with spare flute playing by Black "Melody" Harold. Side one is a long 3 part track, divided into "Problem", "Cause", and "Cure". Side two's got three long tracks: " ... LP, Vinyl record album
An excellent little record from Hugh Masekela – cut right during that perfect time when he was mixing soul, funk, and just the right amount of jazz to keep things real! The record features some nice electric piano from Joe Sample, and the best cuts have a choppy funky groove. Some cuts have ... LP, Vinyl record album
An unusual double-length set from this great Argentine modernist – not his own compositions, but works from the history of tango – but all delivered with the kind of edge that Astor was bringing to his own music in the 70s! LP, Vinyl record album
Some of the heaviest work to come from the African scene of the 70s – the initial offering of the Ngozi Family – a group who clearly take strong inspiration from the Cream years of the UK scene, but who also come across with a grittier, punkier vibe overall – thanks to lean, ... A strange and beautiful session of tracks that mix african percussion with jazzy rhythms, and slight touches of exotica. The album features the group of Chick Foster, a highly percussive combo with a lineup that includes bass, drums, percussion, and flute. Prince Onago plays conga with the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A classic session of pounding percussion – quite possibly the most successful entry into this earthy genre that hit the recording scene at the end of the 50s! Babatunde Olatunji is joined here by a great assemblage of players – including Montego Joe and Baba Hawthorne Bey on percussion ... LP, Vinyl record album
Quite possibly the last really hard-hitting funk album from The Fatback Band – and although their first record on the Event label, a set that cooks every bit as hard as their first few for Perception! The style here is funky 45 soul at its best – lots of hard crackling drums, funky ... LP, Vinyl record album
Moments, Whatnauts, Willie & The Mighty Magnificents, & The Internationals
Great collection of New Jersey seventies soul tracks from the All Platinum label, pulled together in this original compilation package that's about as rare as any of the originals! Includes "Give a Damn" by The Internationals, "Funky 8 Corners" by Willie & the Mighty ... LP, Vinyl record album
Massively beautiful work from the great Donny Hathaway! After two studio albums that had firmly put him on the map as one of the 70s best soul talents, Atco had the genius to have Donny record this live album before very enthusiastic crowds in Hollywood and New York.
