Another Steppin Soul

CD (Item 916168) Irma (Italy), 2012 — Condition: Used
$9.99 ...

CD

An homage to classic organ soul from Italy's Hammond Express – paying tribute to Booker T & The MGs, The Tams, Groove Holmes, John Barry, Brian Auger, Curtis Mayfield and others! It's been years since we last heard from Hammond Express – but seeing as producer and keyboards guru Francesco Gazzara specializes in 60s born, though evergreen soul, it's all good! Singer Lily Latuheru joins Gazzara, bass player Massimo Sanna, drummer Juliano Ferrarri, percussionist Mirtao and flute & horns player Dario Cecchini. The set opens & closes with solid originals, but the focus is on choice covers. 14 tracks in all. "The Glorious Revolution", "Never For Me", "I Can't Help Myself", "Diamonds Are Forever", "Nobody Does It Better", "Move On Up", "Inner City Blues". "Mercy", "What", "Goldfinger", "Stadium", "The House In The Clouds" and more.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Out of print.)

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

The deepest work so far from Djinji Brown – a set that moves past some of the more hip hop-styled production of the past, and delves much more deeply into the organic style of the Yoruba label! The rhythms are often in an uptempo mode, but have enough acoustic elements to push them away from ... CD

Get ready to fall in love with a new bossa singer! The lovely Rosalia De Souza is a sweet-voiced vocalist with a sound that's very much in keeping with classic 60s work from Brazil – and she's got the added benefit of working here with new arrangements from the great Nicola Conte, the ... CD

Quiet Revolution

An excellent early album by funky guitarist Ronny Jordan! Back when everyone seemed to have lost their groove, Ronny emerged with a strong single-note style that reminded us a heck of a lot of Grant Green or Melvin Sparks.
