Sound Signature Sounds Vol 2

CD (Item 915321) Sound Signature, 2007 — Condition: Used
$8.99 ...

CD

Spare sounds from the Detroit scene – the kind of grooves that Theo Parrish and his scene have been making for years, and really opening up the frontiers – even when the rest of the world may not have been looking! The sounds here are spare and spacey, but still mostly rhythmic – that post-techno sound from the Detroit underground, almost as influenced by jazzier styles of years past – but set loose in a vibe that's certainly 21st Century overall! The collection brings together tunes that were mostly issued as singles, and include collaborations with Dwele and trumpeter John Douglas – on tracks that include "Dirt Rhodes", "Rain For Jimmy", "I Can Take It", "Suns Of Osiris", "Get Got", "Instant Insanity", and "Timeislafincharunninout".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Dimlite

Grimm Reality
Now Again, 2011. Used
The third and perhaps best album yet for Swiss beatcrafter and all around soundscape adventurer Dimlite! To date, Dimlite has colored from as broad of a sonic palette as just about anyone in the contemporary electronic scene – taking cues from classic art rock and experimental pop, psych ... CD
Compost (Germany), 1994. Used
Despite the title of this comp, there's very little jazz to be heard on the album. Instead, the album's a groundbreaking compilation of modern abstract vibes and electronica, pulled together by the folks at Compost Records. The track list is almost a who's-who of the early days of 90's ... CD

Mark De Clive-Lowe

Heritage
Mashibeats/Ropeadope, 2019. Used
We've loved the music of Mark De Clive-Lowe for many years – and he's really rewarded us with a continuing evolution of his sound and style – to a point where a record like this is nothing that we might have expected over a decade ago! The set's a live jazz performance, but still ... CD

Two Banks Of Four

Three Street Worlds
Red Egyptian Jazz (UK), 2003. Used
A tremendous album from Two Banks Of Four – a group that features work from some of our favorite older members of the British scene – including singer Valerie Etienne, and musicians Chris Bowden and Ski Oakenfull! The album's got a really soaring, spacious feel – with jazzy roots ... CD

ISoul8

Balance
Sonar Kollektiv (Germany), 2006. Used
A tremendous full length debut from ISoul8 – a record that's billed by Phil Asher in the notes as representing everything that was once soulful in house music – but which we think offers even more than that! The album's certainly got a housey feel overall – but the styles here ... CD
Om Records, 2000. Used
Skittish beats and warm jazzy grooves from London's Landslide – featuring Victor Davies as guest vocalist on the track "Tumbling", and a guest appearance by London Elektricity on "Incurable Voices". There's less bossa on here than you might think from the title, but the ... CD

Reminiscence Quartet

More Psycodelico
Yellow (France), 1999. Used
Beautiful stuff! Reminiscence Quartet were one of the first modern groups to mix Brazilian music and more progressive dancefloor rhythms, and they transformed the sound of mid 90s acid jazz with their great warm jazzy grooves! This new release appears to be a compilation of sorts – although ... CD

Soul Bossa Trio

In Native
Wildjumbo (Japan), 1997. Used
A great effort by this groovy Japanese acid jazz combo! Although they're best-known for their earlier works, which had more of a straight bossa feel, this one has a much more expanded sound, and runs a full range of jazz and Brazilian grooves. Highlights include the track "Hope", which ... CD

Brand New Heavies

Shelter
Delicious Vinyl, 1997. Used
An overlooked mid 90s set from The Brand New Heavies – not as hitbound as some of their earlier work, but still plenty darn great – recorded with a strong emphasis on the vocals, and a no-nonsense soul sound that's always refreshing! There's one or two instrumentals on the album, but ... CD
