Cuauhtemoc Aguila Solar

LP (Item 914357) Pentagrama (Mexico), 1987 — Condition: Very Good

(Cover has a small sticker on back.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Malo

Dos
Warner, 1972. Very Good Gatefold
A seminal bit of Latin funk from the Bay Area scene of the early 70s – the second album from Malo, and an even harder-hitting jam session than the first! The group are really in top form here – taking off with Santana-inspired riffs that are filled with heavy percussion, soaring organ, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mongo Santamaria

El Pussy Cat
Columbia, 1965. Near Mint-
A really pivotal album in the career of Mongo Santamaria – one that has Mongo stripping down the groove, kicking up some jazz, and mixing together soulful styles that brought him to the top of the Latin crowd of the 1960s! There's a tightness here that goes beyond any of Santamaria's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ray Barretto

Energy To Burn
Fania, 1977. Very Good+
A really smoking set from Ray Barretto – recorded at a later date than his Latin Soul classics, but a beautifully imaginative batch of tracks that shows that Ray never stopped perfecting his art! The centerpiece of the album is the long track "Canto Abacuba", which has an ... LP, Vinyl record album
Tico, 1964. Very Good
If there's anything Eddie isn't, it's straight ahead – as even a basic session like this bristles with free thinking energy! Fania, 1975. Near Mint-
By the mid 70s, the New York Latin scene was boomin' so large it could easily fill venues like Yankee Stadium – as you'll hear on this excellent live set from the Fania All-Stars, a monster record that easily ranks with the best live Latin sides of the time – like Eddie Palmieri at Sing ... Orchestra Harlow

Hommy – A Latin Opera
Fania, 1973. Very Good+
Orchestra Harlow's answer to the Who's Tommy – Hommy, a Latin Opera, and one of the few concept albums we know from the New York Latin scene of the time! The tracks are fairly short, and they're separated by short "interludes" throughout the album that feature some cool spoken bits ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ismael Rivera Con Kako

Lo Ultimo En La Avenida
Tico, 1971. Very Good
A great meeting of talents in the studio – as Ismael Rivera sings lead vocals for Kako's smoking combo, complete with congas by Patato Valdez! The sound here is a great – rootsy and highly percussive on the bottom, yet smooth on the top thanks to Ismael's vocals – sung here in a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nancy Sinatra

Boots
Reprise, 1966. Very Good
The album that put Nancy over the top – and one with lots of stellar Lee Hazlewood writing and production, and cuts like "I Move Around", "So Long, Babe", "Flowers On The Wall", and the title cut. Nice liner notes, too – with a conversation in which Nancy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Art Of Noise

In Visible Silence
Chrysalis, 1986. Very Good
Not as sublime as their first LP, but still a nice batch of modern pop sound collage. More traditional song structures are poking through the cool po-mo facade here. With "Opus 4", "Eye Of A Needle", "Backbeat", "Instruments Of Darkness", "Peter ... LP, Vinyl record album

Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath
Warner, 1970. Very Good-
Huge, dark, and heavy – an album of mythical proportions, and that's a lot to say for a mainstream album – especially one that crossed over as big as this one!
