Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Concord, 2012. Used
A wonderful tribute to Dizzy Gillespie – put together by trumpeter Arturo Sandoval – who can not only claim a big influence from Diz, but a number of past musical partnerships as well! The setting is great – not the simple bop mode that you'd usually get from other Diz tributes ... CD

Heath Brothers

Jazz Family
Concord, 1998. Used
The Heath Brothers groove is nicely expanded by a set of added horns – all of whom bring a nice sense of fullness to the tracks, in a way that recalls some of Jimmy Heath's best arranging styles from years back! Jimmy's in the frontline on tenor and soprano sax, joined by Percy Heath on ... CD

Seven Come Seven
Concord, 1973. Used
The Concord label gave guitarist Herb Ellis some of his greatest moments of the 70s – like this early cooker with guitarist Joe Pass – recorded live at the Concord Jazz Festival that gave the label its name! The 1973 performance has both players really opening up – never ... CD

Ray Brown Trio With Ralph Moore

Moore Makes 4
Concord, 1990. Used
We're not normally great fans of the Ray Brown Trio, but this album's a corker – thanks to some great tenor work by Ralph Moore! Moore's a the height of his powers here – blowing with an easy soulfulness that recalls the classic late 50s work of Hank Mobley. His presence on the set ... CD

Herb Ellis & Freddie Green

Rhythm Willie
Concord, 1975. Used
Twin guitar jazz from Herb Ellis and Freddie Green – the former on lead electric, the latter on acoustic rhythm – playing together here in a nicely sprightly session from the 70s! The approach is lean, and really makes the best of both players – and next to Green's acoustic, ... CD

Illinois Concert
Blue Note, 1963. Used
Amazing avant garde material from Dolphy – and never issued before in any form! The concert was recorded in 1963 at the University of Illinois, and it features some of the most "out" playing we've ever heard from Dolphy. He's backed by a trio comprised of Herbie Hancock, Eddie ... CD
