Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Like It Should Be
Jive, 1994. Used
One of the many lost Hiero efforts on Jive. Like other early Hiero LPs this one's got nice jazzy Bay area beats and is still filled with some of the energy that they seemed to lose a bit of before their indie renaissance in the late 90s. 14 tracks counting the intro, including "Brown ... CD

Grooveman Spot

Eternal Development
Planet Groove (Japan), 2006. Used
Soaring jazz-inspired hip hop from Grooveman Spot, aka DJ Kou-G – one of the brightest lights in the Japanese hip hop groove scene – and a really nice batch of tracks that pair the producer/DJ with vocalists and MCs from Japan and the US underground! Grooveman brings a little bit of ... CD

Del The Funky Homosapien & Parallel Thought

Attractive Sin
Parallel Thought, 2012. Used
The collaborative effort of legendary left coast/leftfield wordsmith Del The Funky Homosapien & east coast production duo Drum & Knowledge, aka Parallel Thought – and it's a solid one! Del sounds pretty focused on this one, and the beats are paired well with his flow – heavy ... CD

Nas

Illmatic
Columbia, 1994. Used
Nas's debut LP masterpiece Illmatic – which will probably stand forever as one of the greatest hip hop full lengths of its time – maybe even for all time. Nas has had some creative ups-and-downs over the years, but nothing can take away the impact of this damn near perfect slice of ... CD

Gnarls Barkley

St Elsewhere
Atlantic/Downtown, 2006. Used
A synthy soul funk project from the team of Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo – a set that's just trippy enough – and it's possibly the best full length from either party, ever! You don't need us to tell you that DM has had a finger in a handful of the best fringe pop/leftfield hip hop projects ... CD

Stanley Clarke

If This Bass Could Talk
CBS/Portrait, 1988. Used
One of the last in a legendary run of albums that Stanley Clarke cut for Columbia records in the 70s and 80s – and a set that follows his genre-shifting approach to funky jazz wonderfully! Most numbers have small groupings of players – with Gerry Brown's drums often at the core – ... CD

Keith Jarrett

Still Live
ECM, 1986. Used 2 CDs
Wonderful trio work from Keith Jarrett – a format that the pianist returned to strongly in the 80s, after really breaking fresh ground as a solo artist in the 70s! The music here is hardly the trio styles of most of Jarrett's contemporaries, as there's lots of lessons learned from the ... CD
