Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Collectables, Late 60s/Early 70s. Used 2 CDs
Very sharp 2CD set that brings together all of the best stuff by this great soul group from Philly – including the group's late 60's singles on the Gamble label, and their mid 70's material for Philly International. There's 30 cuts across both CDs, and nearly every cut's fantastic. Titles ... CD

George Clinton & The P-Funk All Stars

TAPOAFOM
Sony, 1996. Used
We have to be honest, by this point we'd all but given up on George. But the truth is, Clinton and crew have pulled off a decent job of turning the tables on the whole G-funk scene, and taking a page or two out of their book, after they'd done the same to him for years! While we'd never claim ... CD

Stevie Wonder

In Square Circle
Tamla, 1985. Used
Mid 80s, and while never that bad (nothing Stevie does is ever terrible – well, except for "Don't Drive Drunk"!), the record lacks that certain greatness that you'll find on even the lesser Stevie Wonder albums. Still, there's some decent enough numbers that keep the album fresh ... CD

Emotions

Rejoice
Columbia, 1977. Used
A huge hit for both The Emotions and Maurice White – whose Kalimba Productions handled this album in the same hit mode they'd been using for Earth Wind & Fire! There's a polished, soaring bounce her that definitely shows the Earth Wind & Fire touch – and which takes the girls ... CD

Lisa Stansfield

Real Love
Arista, 1991. Used
Lisa Stansfield's second solo album – slightly less sublime than the first, but still a heck of a soul album that's really held up wonderfully over the years! Tracks have that warm and smooth approach that made her early work so great – a real return to solid soul after the tinnyness ... CD
Stax, Late 60s/Early 70s. Used
20 titles from Johnny's early big hit years at Stax – back when he was cracking the charts with his home-styled blusey soul tunes that just wouldn't quit! Plenty of nice numbers on here – including the huuuuge hit "Who's Makin' Love", plus "Love Bones", "I ... CD

... CD
Mercury, Late 60s. Used
Genius work from Jerry Butler – working here with the early Gamble & Huff team, years before their 70s fame with Philly International, in a smooth soul style that would soon become known as Philly Soul! By the late 60s, Jerry's work with Vee Jay was long ended – the label had come ... CD

Isley Brothers

Smooth Sailin'
Warner, 1987. Used
Classic 80s work from the Isley Brothers – a set that has the duo of Ronald and Rudolph getting some great help in the studio from Angela Winbush! Angela helped produce the record, and she also wrote many of the songs – and she plays keyboards on the set too, giving the tracks the ... CD
Warner, Late 60s/Early 70s. Used
15 tracks. CD
Columbia, 1959. Used
What can we say? This is the ultimate Miles Davis album – the one that includes so many songs that we've heard way too much in Starbucks, in retail stores, or at a friend's house who claims to be a "jazz expert", but is really a yuppie dilettante. Yet somehow, over all the years, ... CD

Amel Larrieux

Infinite Possibilities
Epic, 1999. Used
A seminal set in helping shape the sound of Neo Soul for the 21st Century – the solo debut of Amel Larreiux, recorded after an initial rise to fame in Groove Theory! The set's got a simple, yet seductive groove – a mix of spare beats and keyboards that really gives Amel's sweet vocals ... CD
