Songs From Movie Movie/Doin The Obscuriana

LP (Item 911337) Film Score, 1979 — Condition: Sealed

Side one features vocals from Gerne Merlino, Patricia Marshall, and Jerry Whitman – and side two featuers Buster Davis singing and playing piano – on a set of charming songs from lost musicals.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bernard Herrmann

Vertigo (Golden Imports)
Mercury, Mid 50s. Near Mint-
Bernard Herrman's classic spooky score to this great Hitchcock thriller. The music is often very intense, to perfectly suit the film's tone – and has that great jagged edge that Herrman brought to some of his other best soundtrack scoring. The tracks are long, and have a pretty edgy sound ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of the strangest moments of success in the early years of Verve Records – and one of the label's few soundtracks too! Moog and synth-heavy soundtrack to the early 80s nuclear horror B-Movie Chain Reaction! Joy
RCA, 1970. Very Good+
Oscar Brown's score for a hip play that he wrote (one of his many plays!) – performed by him, Sivuca, and Jean Pace. Despite the "show" quality of the material, this actually stands simply as a great Oscar Brown Jr. LP, and the production is nice and intimate, and sounds just like ... LP, Vinyl record album
