❔

The first and last major label effort for Wax Trax juggernauts Revolting Cocks – carrying on with the dawn of the 90s core line-up of Al Jourgensen, Paul Barker, Chris Connelly and Bill Rieflin, plus the always eclectic extended guest roster of RevCo records, for their biggest sounding album to date! There's a lot going on here – sneering spoken word social satire by Timothy Leary set to a spare industrial rock backdrop, this era of Ministry appropriate heavy guitar and samples over far funkier dark disco, their classic sinister cover of "Do You Think I'm Sexy" and more – but it ultimately stands as kind of a concise snapshot of these industrial rock pioneers at an early 90s highpoint. Includes "Gila Copter", "Creep", "Mr. Lucky", "Sergio", "The Rockabye", "Dirt", "Linger Ficken' Good" and more.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has bumped corners, in nice shape otherwise.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Hondells

Go Little Honda!
Mercury, Mid 60s. Very Good-
Hard to believe there was a day when the word "Honda" referred exclusively to a motor bike – but that was the case, at the time the Hondells hit big with their groovy little title hit on this LP! As the album's cover attests, the group are all over the (then) popular bike – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Liberty, Late 60s. Very Good+
Nice groovy instrumentals from one of the best little combos of the 60's. The record includes their big hit "No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In)", plus a number of other tracks that have a similar "TV commercial" feel – like "Chiquita Banana", "Pizza ... LP, Vinyl record album

King Crimson

Red
Atlantic, 1974. Near Mint-
One of the heaviest early King Crimson albums – a set that really has the group taking off even more than before – pushing the needles way into the red with their own sort of sonic intensity! The group's a trio this time around – with the legendary Robert Fripp on guitar, really ... LP, Vinyl record album

Lovin Spoonful

What's Up Tiger Lily?
Kama Sutra, 1966. Near Mint-
An excellent soundtrack to one of the wildest Woody Allen movies ever made – a weird little film that has Woody dubbing fake English dialogue over a Japanese action picture! The music by Lovin Spoonful is equally great – a bit groovier than some of their other albums of the time – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Velvet Underground

Velvet Underground & Nico
Verve, 1967. Near Mint- Gatefold
Delicate dissonance, bruised beauty, and hazy noise pop – all in one of the best rock albums ever made – the amazing first album from the Velvet Underground and Nico! Markley (West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band)

Group
Forward, 1969. Near Mint-
An incredible end of the 60s effort that's essentially the final album by West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band – although credited as Markley! Animals

Animalism
MGM, 1966. Very Good-
Pure burning soul from The Animals – a nicely stripped-down set that revels in older R&B styles – cooked up with a version of the group that features Dave Rowberry on Hammond and lots of screaming vocals from Eric B! The original Animals vibe is opened up a bit more with some ... LP, Vinyl record album

Gordian Knot

Gordian Knot
Verve, 1968. Sealed
A Sunshine Pop classic from The Gordion Knot – an album that's overflowing with warm late 60s harmonies, all produced to perfection by ex-Hi-Los member Clark Burroughs! The album's got a style that takes the modes Burroughs and his group forged back in the 50s, and updates it with a groovier ... LP, Vinyl record album

Paul McCartney & Wings

Venus & Mars
Capitol, 1975. Very Good+ Gatefold
Maybe the greatest moment ever from Paul McCartney & Wings – a set that features killer hits and lesser-known gems – all woven into a fantastic 70s sonic tapestry! Les Baxter

Tamboo!
Capitol, Late 50s. Very Good-
A landmark album of exotica! Tamboo was cut with Les' orchestra and chorus – and it's a swirling mass of tribal drums, singing strings, and moody voices that would forever change the face of easy listening. Les' compositions are astounding – filled with all the sophsitication of a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Rawkus, 1999. Very Good- 2LP
To our ears, no one has been able to consistently master the mellow-but-still-hardcore sound like DJ Spinna has.
