Jazz The Personal Dimension

LP (Item 905763) Victor (Japan), Early 70s — Condition: Near Mint-
Gatefold

A fantastic small group set – recorded in the US, with Lew Tabackin on tenor and flute, Bob Daugherty on bass, and Mickey Roker on drums! All tracks are long – and titles include the Toshiko originals "The Village" and "State Of Being" – plus "The Sea In The Spring Time" and "Lover Man".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Heavy gatefold pressing!)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Eric Kloss

Sky Shadows
Prestige, 1968. Sealed
One of the late 60s killers for Prestige by reedman Eric Kloss – sublime material that was every bit as great as some of the bigger-name work for the label, but never really got its due! Kloss is sharper and more focused here than in later years – starting with a hardbop groove, but ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bob James

Three
CTI, 1976. Near Mint- Gatefold
Dark genius from keyboardist Bob James – one of his seminal 70s classics for CTI! John Coltrane

Crescent
Impulse, 1964. Near Mint- Gatefold
Sharp-edged John Coltrane at his best – a record that we'd rank right up there with Love Supreme, and which is a key transition point in Coltrane's musical ideas! There's a very strong edge to Coltrane's tone here – and even on the mellower ballads, he plays with a sound not always ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nice one cut by this all-Detroit group that includes Barry Harris, Charles Greenlee, Roy Brooks, and Vishnu Wood. Chuck Wayne

Tapestry
Focus, Early 60s. Near Mint-
A great album from guitarist Chuck Wayne – not the hippest player in the world, but a player with an incredible ear and an amazing tone! Ted Taylor

Ted Taylor 1976
TK/Alarm, 1976. Near Mint-
An overlooked set from Ted Taylor – one of those singers who kept moving around to different labels, never quite finding his home – but always doing some great work in the process! A groovy little Italian soundtrack – straight in some parts, but very nice in others!
