All God's Chillun Got Rhythm

LP (Item 904470) Sea Breeze, 1977 — Condition: Very Good

(Cover has pen on both sides.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Gene Russell

Listen Here
Ovation, 1976. Very Good+
Great work from pianist Gene Russell – heard here on both Fender Rhodes and acoustic piano! The tracks were originally done for the Black Jazz label – and feature Henry Franklin on bass, Calvin Keys on guitar, and Ndugu on percussion – and cuts include "Black Orchid", ... LP, Vinyl record album

Thad Jones & The Swedish Radio Jazz Group

Greetings & Salutations
Philips, 1976. Near Mint-
An overlooked gem from the great Thad Jones – and a nicely different set than some of his US dates with drummer Mel Lewis! During the mid and late 70s, Thad Jones made more than a few great recordings in Sweden, a number of them with a loose collective of musicians from the country's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nat Adderley

Calling Out Loud
CTI/A&M, 1968. Very Good Gatefold
A pretty great little album from Nat – recorded with arrangements by Bill Fischer, who gives the record a tightly compressed big band sound that's perfect for Nat's sharp funky horn! The album's not exactly "funk", but there's plenty of it in the mix – as lead horn grooves ... LP, Vinyl record album

David T Walker

Press On
Ode, 1973. Very Good+
Warmly chromatic and nicely tripped out guitar work from David T Walker – laid out over some great larger arrangements from the legendary Jerry Peters! The style here is a great blend of studio jazz and soul – a completely new recasting of the role of the guitarist in the soul ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wes Montgomery

Road Song
A&M/CTI, 1968. Very Good+ Gatefold
Beautifully lofty work from the great Wes Montgomery – a set that was recorded quite late in his too-short career, and really points the way towards some of the sophisticated sounds that might have followed, had Wes not left this planet all too soon! Don Sebesky is at the head of the charts ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hank Crawford

Tico Rico
Kudu, 1976. Near Mint-
Hank Crawford's always been a great saxophonist – but he's also one that sometimes works even more strongly in a bigger group setting – as you'll hear on this 70s Kudu session with funky arranger David Matthews! Dave takes the groove forward from the sound that Hank sometimes had back ... LP, Vinyl record album
Impulse, 1975. Very Good+
Searing live work from Gato Barbieri – a brilliant little album that follows on the spirit of his other Latin America sessions for Impulse! The format here is similar to those studio outings – an organic blend of percussion, keyboards, and sax – all bubbling together in a highly ... LP, Vinyl record album

Pat Metheny

American Garage
ECM, 1979. Near Mint-
A brilliantly evocative album from Pat Metheny – one that's got a quietly epic feel, as Pat and group soar out across the American landscape in a set of tunes that subtly explore space and sound while still remaining wonderfully fluid. There's nothing forced here, and nothing too slick ... LP, Vinyl record album

Gato Barbieri

Tropico
A&M, 1978. Very Good+
A far reaching late 70s set from Gato Barbieri – a record that blends fusiony jazz funk, lush stings, and Latin rhythms and fluid solos on a varied batch of tunes! One of the more interesting things about the production is that those varied approaches often come into play within the same ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mary Lou Williams

Best Of Mary Lou Williams

Tyrone Davis

In The Mood
Columbia, 1979. Near Mint-
Our favorite album ever from Tyrone Davis – even if it's completely different than most of his other work too! The set's got a wonderfully smooth feel right from the start – a mellow-grooving, slow-stepping approach that works perfectly for Tyrone's wonderful vocals – pushing ... LP, Vinyl record album

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes

Black & Blue
Philadelphia International, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
Classic Philly soul from Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes – a killer batch of studio tracks, despite the live image of the group on the cover! The album's got a slightly more expansive feel than some of the other Teddy Pendergrass-era albums by The Blue Notes – almost a mini-symphony ... LP, Vinyl record album
