Make It Easy On Yourself

LP (Item 8981) A&M, 1969 — Condition: Sealed
Also available
Burt Bacharach — Make It Easy On Yourself ... CD 9.99

Fantastic work by maestro Burt Bacharach – subtle genius, and an album that offers more to us every time we listen to it! Burt's work has been recorded by many – but few ever gave it the kind of treatment that he did – as you'll hear in this brilliant array of sweeping strings, sly syncopation, and well-placed instrumental solos! The sound is breathtaking throughout – a new level of maturity and majesty for 60s instrumental pop – and the record's an enduring classic that deserves a place in every sensitive record collection. Includes the amazing cut "Pacific Coast Highway", plus great versions of other classics, like "Wanting Things", "She's Gone Away", "Knowing When To Leave", and "This Guy's In Love With You".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo pressing.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A&M, 1967. Sealed
Fantastic! We love Burt Bacharach in so many ways that it's easy to forget the genius of these early A&M sides – but going back to them is always a treat, and it's wonderful to hear the way that Burt lays down his own work when given the chance! You know the tracks – "House ... LP, Vinyl record album

Julius Wechter & The Baja Marimba Band

Those Were The Days
A&M, 1969. Very Good+
A set that may well be the grooviest album ever cut by Julius Wechter & The Baja Marimba Band – and a set that goes way past their initial style, into a range of sweet late 60s A&M modes! There's definitely a lot of Sunshine Pop in the mix here – right from the vocal harmonies ... LP, Vinyl record album
Capitol, Late 50s. Very Good
Music for lovers – and some languid lovers at that – thanks to some perfect mellow moods set by Jackie Gleason! The set's one of Jackie's undisputed classics for Capitol Records in the 50s – perfect sounds to woo a winsome lass, made slightly sexier by some great trumpet solos by ... LP, Vinyl record album

Voices of Walter Schumann

Exploring the Unknown
RCA, 1955. Very Good
One of the postwar space-age classics! The normally-sleepy chorus of Walter Schumann is used to create the backdrop for a narrative of space flight – read by Paul Frees, and involving the takeoff of a rocket from the Pacific, soaring into space, past the moon, and arriving on Venus. Groovy electronic pop stuff from the great Command label! Not as wild as Dick Hyman, but still pretty darn nice, and with a good groovy feel, accented by some nice "Latin" touches. Titles include "Girl From Ipanema", "Dansero", "Look Of Love", "Hare ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dick Hyman

Mirrors
Command, Late 60s. Near Mint- Gatefold
Pre-moog – but still very nice, and an album of oddly-arranged tracks that features Hyman on both organ and piano!
