Sensuous Black Man

LP (Item 8899) Kent, Early 70s — Condition: Very Good+
Also available
Rudy Ray Moore — Sensuous Black Man ... CD 5.99

Rudy Ray Moore cut some mighty raunchy records in his time – but this one may well the be the raunchiest, and maybe the funkiest too! The album's an instruction of "the proper way to make love to a lady" – but done in true Rudy Ray style, with very down-to-earth language that really takes off from the first few sentences – serving up an array of explicit descriptions and references to body parts that make the most hardcore hip hoppers seem like they're singing nursery rhymes! The music is wonderful, too – very funky congas and drums, pounding away behind the vocals, with some funky guitar touches too – all at a level that really makes the raw lyrics move. Parental Guidance is highly recommended – but that's also part of the pleasure of the record, too!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some ring & edge wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Kent, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Rudy Ray Moore flies the friendly skies – and turns out one of his best records of the 70s! The set is easily one of the tightest albums from Rudy's classic years – and uses a fair bit of musical backings beneath his very raunchy comedy – in ways that are sometimes funky, but ... Kent, Early 70s. Very Good+
Hilarious! This is one of the raunchiest of the Rudy Ray Moore albums on Kent – and it's no surprise that it was issued on the label's "sensuous series"! Rudy and The Madam meet up on wax, and give sexual advice to the uninitiated. Side one lays it on the line directly, and side ... LP, Vinyl record album

Imaginations

Good Stuff
20th Century, 1974. Very Good
A great bit of Chicago soul from the 70s – by a short-lived group who were sort of an offshoot of Brighter Side Of Darkness, who had scored earlier in the decade with the falsetto hit "Love Jones". This one was produced by Clarence Johnson/Star Vue Productions, and licensed to 20th ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ray Goodman & Brown

Ray, Goodman, & Brown II
Polydor, 1980. Very Good
Probably the best album Ray, Goodman, and Brown cut after they dissolved The Moments, and moved to Polydor. Despite some more modern soul production than their classic recordings, their harmonies are excellent, and their voices are in totally top form. The LP includes their classic "Happy ... Columbia, 1970. Near Mint-
Kind of a messed-up album, with a bit few too many styles running through the mix – but still with some pretty great moments! Best Of Little Anthony & The Imperials
Veep, Mid 60s. Very Good-
Anthony and crew were one of the few groups who actually got better when they moved from the raw indie scene to the slicker major label one – as you'll hear perfectly on this set of some of their best work for the Veep/DCP/United Artists label. Average White Band
Atlantic, 1974. Good
AWB's first for Atlantic – and a nice slice of funk that proves that they can mix it up with the best groups of the 70s! The record's got plenty of sweet electric keyboards over smooth funky basslines – and as the years go by, the band's white boy vocals don't sound nearly as bad as we ... LP, Vinyl record album

Gonna Tell The World
Polydor, 1981. Very Good+
A sublime set from Alton McClain & Destiny – one of the hippest female soul trios ever – and a group who definitely work at a level that's far above most of their contemporaries! The group's got a jazzy flourish here that really deepens their sound – a strong influence from ... LP, Vinyl record album
