Fantastic work from guitarist Pat Martino – a player who never seems to have lost his groove, and who might well be sounding even better in the past decade than a few years before! This album's got Pat in core trio formation – working with the organ of Pat Bianchi, whose sound stretches out with that lean, soulful vibe that marked some of Martino's most appearances on record back in the 60s – his initial soul jazz work for Prestige Records, in which Martino's tight control of a single-line groove was almost as strong as Grant Green in a similar organ jazz mode. Over the years, Pat's only got more creative with his sound, and more open with his solos – as you'll hear here, with a group that includes Carmen Intorre on drums – and guest work from Adam Niewood on tenor and Alex Norris on trumpet on many of the album's tracks.
