Live In Las Vegas At The Flamingo

LP (Item 869252) Parrot, 1969 — Condition: Near Mint-

(Original stereo pressing. Cover has a bit of wear at the bottom right corner.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Abbey Lincoln

People In Me
Inner City, 1978. Very Good+ Gatefold
A great session that was recorded in Tokyo in 1973 – featuring Abbey backed by a small group that includes Dave Liebman on sax and flute, Al Foster on drums, and Hiromasa Suzuki on piano. The record's pretty darn hip – and it's a nice version of Abbey's haunting approach to vocal jazz, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mercury, 1958. Very Good+
One of our favorite albums ever by Sarah Vaughan – and a really jazz-based session that's totally hip! Jon Hendricks & Company

Love
Muse, 1982. Very Good+
Jon's going back to the Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross format here – working with a group of singers known as Company (featuring family members Michele and Judith Hendricks), running through vocalese versions of jazz tunes with the same solo line trading style used by LHR in the 50s and 60s. ... Billie Poole

Confessin' The Blues
Riverside, 1962. Good
The title's an apt one, because Billie Poole sings here in a mode that's steeped in styles borrowed strongly from gospel and blues – but delivered more in a jazz-based mode overall! The backing here is one aspect that makes the record especially strong – a quartet with Kenny Burrell on ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong

Porgy & Bess (2LP version)
Verve, 1957. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
One of the hippest takes ever on the Porgy & Bess score – done in duet format by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, in a fuller spirit than their other albums for Verve! Like many late 50s albums of Gershwin's score, this one was issued in advance of the film with Sidney Poitier – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Paul Humphrey

Me & My Drums
Stanson, 1979. Very Good+
A later album by Paul Humphrey, and with production that's a little bit rawer than some of his other 70's releases. The music's made by just Paul and Tony Drake, and the two of them play drums, bass, and lots of electronic keyboards and Arps – in this kind of scatter-shot approach to jazz ... Fantasy, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of Cannonball Adderley's late funky sessions for Fantasy – and a record that still features some mighty heavy production from David Axelrod!
