Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Jards Macale/Luiz Melodia

Enciclopedia Musical Brasileira
WEA (Brazil), Late 70s/Early 80s. Used
A split set, featuring 7 tracks each by Macale and Melodia. Macale's one of our favorite singers from the 70s, and although the work on the set's not his best, it's at least nice to finally have some of it on CD. Titles by Jards include "Negra Melodia", "A Flor E O Espinho", ... CD
WEA (Brazil), 1979/1980. Used
This is hardly the encyclopedic set you'd expect it to be from the title – but it is a great set of tracks that Baden recorded for Warner/Atlantic at the end of the 70s, with a beautifully rootsy feel that makes the material some of his best of that decade! Forget the date of the material, ... CD

Gilberto Gil live at Montreux – playing in this spare, stripped-down style that's quite a change from some of his more fully produced albums of the period – a mode that's very much like some of Gilberto's best albums from the start of the 70s! There's a lot of acoustic guitar in the ... CD

Joao Gilberto/Caetano Veloso/Gilberto Gil/Maria Bethania

Brasil
WEA (Brazil), 1981. Used
The best of Brazil, old and new – as Joao Gilberto meets up with a younger generation of Brazilian vocalists – Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and Maria Bethania – all for a wonderful session of stripped-down bossa! The work is very much in Joao's best style of the early 70s – ... CD

Elis Regina

Saudade Do Brasil
WEA (Brazil), 1980. Used 2CD
A great little album by Elis – recorded for Warner/Elektra at the end of her career, but very much in the spirit of her classic work for Philips in the 70s. Like so many of those records, this one features arrangements and keyboards by Cesar Camargo Mariano – and the list of tracks is ... CD

Francis Hime

Francis Hime
EMI/Odeon (Brazil), 1973. Used
One of the few full albums ever recorded by Francis Hime – a brilliant Brazilian composer/arranger whose work was instrumental to 70s MPB! Hime's talents place him somewhere between the baroque brilliance of Marcos Valle and the ambitiously soaring early work of Milton Nascimento – a ... CD
