Rock Generation Vol 1

LP (Item 864187) BYG (France), Early 60s — Condition: Very Good+
Live recordings of The Animals at The Club "A Gogo" in Newcastle from 1963 and The Yardbirds at The Marquee Club in London from 1964.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

David Bowie

Young Americans
RCA, 1975. Very Good
A brilliant soul album! That's right, we said SOUL album! Bowie was at the height of his Ziggy Stardust fame when this one was recorded – a drastic left-turn in styles, forged during a point in his American tour when he could take a break, head to Philly, plug in at the Sigma Sound Studios, ... Joe Cocker

Joe Cocker! (1969)
A&M, 1969. Very Good+
A landmark album from Joe Cocker – and a set that took blue-eyed soul in a whole new direction at the end of the 60s! The album's a surprising stunner all the way through – one that really gets past some of the overdone Cocker cliches that held on a bit too strongly in later years ... LP, Vinyl record album

An important record in the 70s – one that really kept alive the spirit of the pre-Sgt Pepper's Beatles – with a range of fantastic tracks from their first four years! LP, Vinyl record album

Allman Brothers

Brothers & Sisters
Capricorn, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
The Allman Brothers at their best – and a key 70s set that may well have the group working at their peak! Jack Nitzsche, Captain Beefheart & Others

Blue Collar – Original Soundtrack
MCA, 1978. Near Mint-
Some choice soundtrack work from Jack Nitzsche's prime 70s period, with a handful other tracks by Howlin' Wolf, Captain Beefhaeart and Ike & Tina Turner. For the most part the soundtrack is bluesy rootsy stuff, to go along with the slant of the film, but there is a great funky break on the ... LP, Vinyl record album
World Pacific, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Trippy electric fusion from the west coast – a record that features Ponty, who was working with Zappa at the time, playing a set of electric jazz takes on Zappa tunes – with lots of added help from George Duke, who was also working with Zappa too! The set's almost a "birth of ... LP, Vinyl record album
