Weird and spooky sounds from Oscillotron – a one-man outfit, but working here in sharply cinematic splendor! The music here takes plenty of cues from the late 70s/early 80s horror generation – with some wonderfully dark keyboard lines that resonate strongly throughout the entire set – sometimes spare and moody, sometimes quite full and forceful! Like other titles on the great Cineploit label, this one has a new artist picking up a sweet retro cinematic vibe – and honestly carrying off the whole thing almost better than original film scores from years back. Titles include "Embryo", "Oracle", "Dawn", "Eclipse", "Terror" and "Assembly".  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Cineploit (Austria), 2016. Sealed
Creepy, cataclysmic sounds from Oscillotron – a set that's very much in keeping with their previous attempts to revive an older style of horror film scoring – but at a level that's maybe even better than before! The music here is sublime – maybe in the best territory of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Totally great work from Sospetto – the group's third album, and their best so far! The approach here follows in Sospetto's previous mode of remaking older soundtrack styles – but the album's even more elaborate and involved, given that the group create four different mini film scores ... A sublime second set of work from Orgasmo Sonore – even hipper than their first, and again a wonderful reworking of soundtrack modes from the Italian scene of the 70s! Compositions here are by Ennio Morricone, Stelvio Cipriani, Piero Piccioni, and others – but the group makes the music ... LP, Vinyl record album

Despite the fact that Sophia Loren's name is prominently displayed on the cover, and despite the fact that she's pictured on the front, most of the record is instrumental work by Barry – although there is a vocal track or two by Loren! The sound is pretty groovy, and the tracks have a nice ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great little James Bond soundtrack – written for one of the lesser-remembered Bond films, but filled with nice moments! There's a darker, moodier feel here than on some of Barry's other Bond scores – lots of stretched out tracks that have a bit more space than usual, and odd ... LP, Vinyl record album

A very nice soundtrack for this obscure film loosely based on the novel by Joyce – clearly a tough task, given the scope of the original book! Myers' score is suitably crazy – with a strange array of orchestral pieces, moving in and out in a "suite" format, and sounding a lot ... LP, Vinyl record album

The US release of 3 soundtracks to films produced by Dino De Laurentis – the best of which is Roy Budd's Stone Killer. Mostly dramatic material, written by Riddle to accompany this mid 60s film based on the John O'Hara novel of the same name. Ferrante & Teicher perform the main theme – which is jaunty enough – but the other tracks are pretty dark and orchestral, with a fairly gloomy feel overall. ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great little album – filled with groovy numbers that recall all the charm of the Batman TV show! Forget everything you know about "Raindrops Are Falling On My Head", and give Burt kudos for this gem of an album! Sure, "Raindrops" shows up here a few times – instrumentally, and in 2 BJ Thomas vocal versions – and it's not a bad tune at all. But the real gems ... LP, Vinyl record album
