LP (Item 861871) Cineploit (Austria), 2012 — Condition: Sealed

Weird and spooky sounds from Oscillotron – a one-man outfit, but working here in sharply cinematic splendor! The music here takes plenty of cues from the late 70s/early 80s horror generation – with some wonderfully dark keyboard lines that resonate strongly throughout the entire set – sometimes spare and moody, sometimes quite full and forceful! Like other titles on the great Cineploit label, this one has a new artist picking up a sweet retro cinematic vibe – and honestly carrying off the whole thing almost better than original film scores from years back. Titles include "Embryo", "Oracle", "Dawn", "Eclipse", "Terror" and "Assembly".  © 1996-2018, Dusty Groove, Inc.

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A great Mancini score for one of the goofiest films of the 60s! Peter Sellers stars as the sitar-playing Indian actor Hrundi Bakshi – next to the lovely Claudine Longet, who makes one of her few film appearances – and the whole thing's set to one of the greatest scores ever by Henry ... Call us corny, but we really love this one! The musical's a brilliant summation of all the energy that went into American business in the postwar years – and offers a great parody on the corporate shenanigans of the Madison Avenue era. One of Burt Bacharach's finest moments, and a soundtrack that we never tire of hearing! Burt wrote all the tunes – and the album's a wonderful romp, with lots of odd twists and turns that are quite different from Burt's usual bag (baby!), but which still have all of the charm of his best ... A pretty sweet – and nearly forgotten – Quincy Jones soundtrack from the 60s – done for a film based on Carl Reiner's book and play of the same name, directed by Reiner himself! A great thriller soundtrack – by one of the Italian masters of the 60s! Bacalov's score for the film mixes jazzy numbers with more suspenseful orchestral ones – but the best cuts have a jaunty groovy quality, of the sort you dig these old Italian soundtracks for!
