Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Yellow Fever/Na Poi
Wrasse, 1976. Used
About as classic as you can get for 70s Fela – 2 albums that are overflowing with righteous politics, heavy rhythms, and super-extended grooves! The CD features the complete tracks from the albums Yellow Fever and Na Poi – both recorded in 1976, but compiled here with a bonus alternate ... CD
Barclay/Wrasse, 1970s. Used 2CD
A great 2CD set that brings together 2 different sides of Fela's work – his jazzy instrumental material, and his more dance-oriented tunes. Of course, it all sounds great to us, and it's all super-funky – but the breakdown of styles is also plenty darn nice, and really helps us ... CD

Two beautiful albums from one of the most difficult periods of Fela's life. "Coffin For Head Of State (Part 1 & 2)" is a mournful dirge-like track (although not without a good deal of funk), written around the death of Fela's mother from an attack on his Kalakatua Republic. "Unk ... CD

A well-done collection of some of King Sunny Ade's first recordings in Nigeria – presented in a package with great sound, and a heck of a lot of music overall! The work here has been reissued on other CDs by African Songs in the UK, but this collection is much more all-encompassing – ... CD

A full-length cooker from Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble – a group who normally manage to pack an album's worth of energy into a 12" single! Given that talent, you can imagine how much is going on here – thanks to some very long tracks that serve up a classic 70s-styled take on Afrobeat ... CD

Words of love from Libyan singer Ahmed Fakroun – an artist who works with some sweet 80s electro soul backings that perfectly match his look on the cover! The vocals are mostly in Arabic, but they're set to backings that have a definite western approach – very universal in sound, with ... CD
