If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Used CD Grade
We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD".
This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer
Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play
without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove,
you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not,
then you may return it for a full refund.
With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of
surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be
clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we
handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted
otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so
look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.
The great James Hunter – sounding even better than before – thanks to sock-solid soul production from Daptone Records! James already recorded at Daptone Studios before – for his previous record – but this set's completely in the hands of the label, from top to bottom – ... CD
A return to funky grooving for Medeski, Martin, & Wood – and a slamming set that really captures the energy of the group in performance! The trio move effortlessly through tight Hammond grooving and off-beat jazzy piano work, riffing hard in the jam-band mode that's made them a huge ... CD
A contemporary group from overseas, but one who've drank heavily from the George Clinton P-Funk brew of the 70s – and found a great way to bring the sound forward for the 21st Century! The work here is very much in the best late P-Funk mode – bassy, but never too uptight – played ... CD
A feisty bit of jazz funk with a classic edge, great solo work from guitarist Rodney Jones – very much in the vein of some of the recent jamband titles on Blue Note. The group's a no-nonsense one with a lineup that includes Lonnie Smith on organ, Idris Muhammad on drums, Maceo Parker on alto ... CD
The fantastic first album from The Hi Fly Orchestra – a group we first dug on funky 45s, but who sound even better on this full length set! Unlike some of their contemporaries, who go for more of a deep funk groove, Hi Fly have a sound that's also equally jazzy – filled with hip riffs ... CD
Tripped out tracks with a funky cinematic feel – a great new project with mysterious origins – supposedly the work of the "mysterious Clutchy Hopkins", but really just the efforts of a batch of underground beatmakers! There's a spare, spacious approach here that almost ... CD
Super-heavy funk from late great Desco Records scene! The Mighty Imperials were one of the best funky 45 groups to record for mighty deep funk Desco label – and their first album never properly saw the light of day, thanks to some pressing and distribution messups before the demise of the ... CD
The funky West Coast sound rises again! This excellent full-length set by the Poets Of Rhythm is a monster – filled with stoner funk tracks that recall the glory days of groups like Mandrill, War, Malo, and El Chicano, touched with some of the messed-up funk of the Bay Area scene of the ... CD
A classic by Big John Patton! The master organ player is joined by Grant Green on guitar, and the much-overlooked drummer Hugh Walker – a fantastic player on the kit, little known, but who played with this incredible "skipping" groove – one that sounds that reminds us a lot ... CD
Funky keyboards galore – and one of the greatest records ever from this legendary Brazilian jazz talent! The album follows nicely off Deodato's Prelude classic for CTI – and like that one, this set's built on long-flowing tunes that rise and fall with a wonderful sense of rhythm – ... CD
