Brasilian Samba

LP (Item 853479) Omega (Sweden), 1970 — Condition: Very Good+

The warmth of Brazil meets the cool breeze of Sweden – and the result is an album that's as groovy as groovy can be! The Swedish combo The Gimmicks perform a set of tunes that's very much in the Sergio Mendes/Brasil 66 mode – harmony vocals over the top of bossa arrangements, all sparkling with a sweet 60s finish! The tunes are great – and include favorites like "Look Around", "Roda", "The Joker", "Walk On By", "Chove Chuva", and "Look Of Love", as well as less-performed gems like "Boink", "California My Way", and "Bom Bom Bay". The album sits perfectly next to your A&M classics – and it's a heck of a lot rarer too!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Japanese reissue pressing.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Fantastic stuff, and a record that was virtually the blueprint for spiritual soul jazz in the 70s!
