Sinnerman (Felix Da Housecat's Heavenly House ext voc, inst, & main, original) – Verve Remixed 2

12-inch (Item 851054) Verve, 2003 — Condition: Near Mint-

Nina Simone hits a house groove – thanks to some tight remixing by Felix Da Housecat! "Sinnerman" first appeared on Nina's classic Pastel Blues album – but here, it's pumped up in a few different mixes that were all part of the Verve Remixed 2 project. The vocals are extremely haunting – really echoing out with that magic tone that Nina always had – and even all the beats and keys can't get in the way of the tune's soulful finish!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(In a plain white sleeve.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sound Of New York/Becket, 1982. Very Good-
Maybe a bit goofy, but now a classic club track that's survived the test of time nicely as just about every DJ's theme song, with a monster scratchy guitar riff, and lots of that rolling bass pedal groove that was so popular in the early 80s. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Mercury, 1992. Very Good-
A shameless bit of pop house – but we love it! Lidell's original tune is super catchy, with a "nu nu" vocal refrain that will keep you humming for days – and it's presented here in a bunch of different extended mixes! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Warner, 1984. Very Good (pic cover)
One of our favorite tracks ever from Prince – an instantly funky, instantly catchy tune that never fails to blow us away with its dexterity! The jam sounds great, even after all these years – and it's backed by a non-LP cut, "Another Lonely Christmas" – in which Prince ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Zoo York, 1981. Very Good-
A fantastic mellow groover from Lowrell! The cut's got a bit of a Barry White approach – but with a groove that's stripped down more, and which slinks along a bassline and guitar riff that really sparkle nicely. The whole thing's super-tasty – and it's one of the best indie soul ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Kelli-Arts, Early 80s. Very Good-
2 sides of work by this oft-overlooked late Chicago soul group! The real gem here is "Share My Love With You" – a sublime harmony soul ballad, and the kind of track that rivals the best of the New Jersey vocal group scene of the early 70s! A wonderful track that should have been ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Atlantic/RFC, 1981. Very Good-
A pretty catchy groover from Suzy Q – slightly cold, with a thumping dancefloor groove that's got some nice European touches! A bit quirky, but with a stomping approach that's compelling. 12-inch, Vinyl record
