Hajime

LP (Item 850620) Kampai (Japan), 1987 — Condition: Near Mint-
(€9.75 || £8.63 || ¥1318) (approx.)

(Cover has a cutout notch and a promo sticker.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Blue Note, 1965. Very Good+
An excellent set of some fairly out material – performed by Shorter with a group that includes Freddie Hubbard, Grachan Moncur, James Spaulding, Herbie Hancock, and a rare appearance by his brother Alan on flugelhorn! At times, the record builds into a sound that's freer and more ... LP, Vinyl record album

Black Saint (Italy), 1982. Near Mint-
A great leap forward for David Murray – an album recorded at the start of the 80s, and one that showed he really had some great new directions going on in his music! The album's got all the warm tones and complicated sentiments you might expect from a title like "Home" – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Chip Off The Old Block
Blue Note, 1963. Good
A solidly soulful session from Stanley Turrentine – one of his few Blue Note dates in the company of organist Shirley Scott, and possibly the hardest-hitting of the bunch! Introspection
Columbia, 1973. Very Good+
One of the few US releases by this European flute player who mixed jazz, classical, funk, and rock styles, and who was a major player in the group Focus. This set's a fairly subdued set of tracks, but has an excellent mellow sound, with large backing, in the style of some of the Italian ... LP, Vinyl record album
Nessa, 1978. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
Great set of recordings from the 70's that feature Roscoe Mitchell in a number of different settings. "The Maze" has him playing with 8 percussionists (including Braxton, Malachi Favors, Joseph Jarman, and Henry Threadgill) in a 20 minute long moody choppy piece. "L-R-G" is a ... MCA, 1979. Very Good+
One of our favorite albums ever from The Crusaders – a set that really sums up all the tightness they'd forged in the 70s, while still showing a new sense of soul and funk as well – expertly balanced with flawless LA production! The album may well be the group's equivalent of a Steely ... LP, Vinyl record album

C'est Chic
Atantic, 1978. Very Good+

Another Taste Of Honey
Liberty, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
A sweet follow up to Martin Denny's Taste Of Honey album – one that's got a great blend of piano, vibes, and percussion – all used in a way that's almost more jazz-like than some of Denny's earlier work! The formula works great to transform a host of 50s and 60s tunes – and ... LP, Vinyl record album
Soulful Strut
Brunswick, Late 60s. Near Mint-
A funky soul instrumental classic – all the way through! The team of Eldee Young and Redd Holt first came to prominence with Ramsey Lewis' first Chicago trio, then branched out on their own as a jazz act – but by the time of this set, they'd picked up a hipper, funkier late 60s sort of ...
