Two later Starpoint albums – back to back on a single set, with bonus tracks too! Restless is great work from Starpoint – one of those groups that always seem to be working a notch or two above most of their 80s contemporaries – and even on this mid-decade set, they're still going strong – bouncing around in upbeat rhythms, catchy hooks, and well-balanced instrumentation. Renee Diggs' vocals still sound great on top of the grooves, and even though the overall sound is moving more towards the charts at the time, Starpoint still keep away from ever getting too commercial. Titles include "Emotions", "Object Of My Desire", "See The Light", "Till The End Of Time", "Don't Take Your Love Away", "Restless", and "What You Been Missing". The second album features Sensational sounds from Starpoint – an overlooked set from 80s, and one that has the group working with contemporary soul maestro Preston Glass! Glass brings in his own approach to beats and keyboards, and helps the group find a style that's got lots of lean bounce, and a style that maybe picks up a bit of the currents that were touching mainstream soul from the world of hip hop – almost a pre-New Jack Swing approach at times. Titles include "He Wants My Body", "DYBO", "Prove It Tonight", "Sensational", "Another Night", "Touch Of Your Love", and "Second Chance". 2CD set features lots of bonus tracks – including "Object Of My Desire (voc 12")", "What You Been Missin (voc male version)", "Object Of My Desire (inst)", "Restless (voc ext rmx)", "Restless (dub)", "He Wants My Body (voc ext rmx)", "Another Night (dub)", "Touch Of Your Love (voc ext rmx)", and "Touch Of Your Love (dub)".  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

A wonderfully-done look at the legendary soul trio Labelle – plus solo work as well! The collection doesn't feature the full range of Labelle's music – you might need a box set for that – but it does pick up the group when they really hit their stride on RCA in the early 70s ... CD

This one's a real shift from her earlier jazz-based work, or her recent recordings for Verve – and a sweet funky fusion album that Dee Dee recorded for Elektra in the late 70s. The set was produced by Stanley Clarke, and has a soul/fusion sound that's not that different than his own work of ... CD

Embryo/Sepia Tone, 1970. Used
The one and only album by this righteous funky combo from Ohio! Although Brute Force were an American group of the late 60s, they've got a sound that brings in traces of the African rhythms that were bubbling under at the time – similar to some of the best London groups of the post-colonial ... CD
