A completely random assortment of 12" records – both LPs and singles – some in good shape, some totally beat up! We make these boxes at random, and seal them tightly – and even we don't know what's in them. Keep in mind that this vinyl has been through the regular racks – and the Bargain Basement – and some of it might have defects, some may have damaged covers, and the vinyl will mostly likely be a mix of 12" singles and full albums. Think of the contents as "raw material" or "space fillers" – vinyl to be used for projects, decorations, or even things like art installations or set dressing. At less than a dime a record, the price is certainly right! (Given the nature of these bulk vinyl records, they cannot be returned. All sales are final.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Good

  • A record that you'd buy to play, cheap, but which you wouldn't buy for collecting.
  • Will have marks across all parts of the playing surface, and will most likely play with surface noise throughout. May have some other significant flaws, such as residue, or a track that skips.
  • In most cases, a poor quality copy of a very difficult to find record.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Beehive, Late 70s. Sealed
A treasure trove of rare jazz recordings – all material that was cut during the short run of the Beehive label – that excellent Chicago imprint that was based along the ideals of recordings first put in place by Blue Note and Prestige! Beehive also grabbed a lot of players who worked ... LP, Vinyl record album
Prestige, 1965. Very Good+
Eric Kloss' great first jazz outing, recorded back when he was a teenage virtuoso attending the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children. Recorded with Don Patterson's trio, with Pat Martino on guitar, and very (and surprisingly) groovy all the way through. The tracks are mostly standards, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Best of Daly-Wilson Big Band
Festival (Australia), 1978. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
2 LP set featuring some of the best work of this funky Australian big band! Tracks culled from most of their 70's albums, including their version of "Shaft" and the hard swingin' "Col's Dilemma". And we should warn you – the inside of the gatefold cover features the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Encores
Capitol, Early 50s. Near Mint-
A collection of some of Kenton's early 50s hits, presented here as "encores", with most of the tracks arranged by Pete Rugolo. 11 tracks in all, including "He's Funny That Way", "Painted Rhythm", "Journey To Brazil", "Somnambulism", "Chorale ... LP, Vinyl record album
One
CTI, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold
A landmark album – not only for Bob James, but for CTI and the Fender Rhodes as well! This is the album where all the magic starts – the first of many extremely successful albums that Bob recorded during the 70s under his own name, and almost the birthplace of the modern hip hop ... Night At Count Basie's
Roulette, Early 60s. Very Good-
Rare album of organ jazz by the lost Perri Lee trio. Lee was another one of the great female organists around in the early 60's – like Shirley Scott or Rhoda Scott – and she just wails in this live set recorded at Count Basie's nightclub in Harlem. A big added bonus on this album is ... LP, Vinyl record album
Licensed To Ill
Def Jam, 1986. Very Good- Gatefold
The game changing Def Jam classic – and possibly the greatest album by the Beastie Boys – even though they'd grow up a whole lot after this! Profane party anthems galore, and the Beasties would distance themselves from much of the attitude of this album, making their career arc from ... LP, Vinyl record album
Even Stevens
Monument, 1968. Sealed
Excellent Ray Stevens material from his 60s years on Monument – the serious, swinging side of Stevens – not the ballad or novelty one! Titles include the hip "Mr Businessman" – Ray's great take at a socially-conscious number, as is "The Minority" – plus ... LP, Vinyl record album
Deuces Wild
Atlantic, 1967. Near Mint-
A great little Sonny Stitt album – very different than any of his other sets from the 60s! The album has a number of interesting aspects – from hard-wailing organ by Wilmer Mosby (who we think is Don Patterson under a fake name), to some screaming guest work by Rufus Harley and Robin ... Freeze
Westbound, 1975. Very Good+
Freeze is a wonderful set from Junie – a record that has all the offbeat funk he was crafting with the Ohio Players during their Westbound years – and the same sort of heady sound that would make Morrison a perfect match with the P-Funk empire! The record contains the legendary track ... LP, Vinyl record album
Manhattan Project
Beehive, 1978. Very Good+
Excellent later work from trumpeter Dizzy Reece – best known for his classic late 50s sides on Blue Note and New Jazz, but heard here as part of a great flurry of 70s revival sessions! The work's got an arch modern tone that's really surprising – almost a bit like Ted Curson at times, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Hot Dog
Blue Note, 1969. Good+
From the title, to the cover, to the gritty grooves way down in the wax – this has got to be one of the funkiest Blue Note albums ever – a real landmark from the legendary Lou Donaldson! The set kicks off with a hard and heavy groove from the very first note – thanks to some ... LP, Vinyl record album
