Double Cross (double a-side promo)

12-inch (Item 84310) Gold Mind, 1979 — Condition: Very Good
Just Sold Out!

12-inch, Vinyl record

A great tune from First Choice – a bit slower than some of their other disco hits, with a building soulful quality that's really great, and which includes a strong hook in the title phrase, one that really makes the song bubble! The b-side is a slightly longer mix by Bobby DJ Guttadaro. (White label promo, with marker & pen. Cover has marker.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Fantasy, 1978. Very Good+
Hardly a disco tune from Side Effect – and instead a nicely jazzy bit of club, served up in the best Wayne Henderson-directed mode of the group's Fantasy years! The tune's got a brassy finish that goes well with the lyrics – and it's backed by the even-better "I'm A Winner", ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Epic, 1978. Very Good+
"Groove Line" is an uptempo number, in the mode of Heatwave's more clubby type funk – but we're partial to "Always & Forever", the group's incredible slow jam ballad, one of those late nite 70s cuts that never grows old! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Personal, 1983. Sealed (pic cover)
The great electro classic – and one that will make you pop so much your shoulders will get sore! The single features the long "Din Daa Daa remix" – with lots of nice parts that drop out, and have the chorus popping out with great isolated sound. Also features the dub mix, ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Welcome Aboard/Strange
Unlimited Gold, 1981. Very Good
The great Webster Lewis joins Love Unlimited Orchestra for this excellent later track from the group – the slowly funky "Welcome Aboard", a tight mellow track with an excellent stepping groove. Darn hard to find on LP – and even better on 12" single! 12-inch, Vinyl record
I Wanna Boogie With You (voc, inst)
Dakar, 1981. Very Good+
A great bit of boogie on Dakar – one of the latest singles we've ever seen on the label, and a unique effort from Charlie Singleton and the wonderfully-named Stargasm! The tune snaps along with a great little indie groove – spare, bassy, and with some warm keyboards behind Charlie's ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Sire, 1981. Very Good+ (pic cover)
The super-huge hit – done up here in the full 12" version, which also features the cut morphing into "Where Did Our Love Go". 2 60s soul covers for the price of one! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Streetwise, 1984. Very Good+ (pic cover)
Classic electro from the team of John Rocca and Arthur Baker, one that really takes us back. A bit of on the pop side of things, but still some great early linn drum grooves. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Theme From King Kong/Blues Concerto
20th Century, 1976. Very Good+
A great one! "Theme From King Kong" is a killer cut – one of the last really funky numbers that Barry White cut in the 70s, with a bouncing rolling bassline that's just great, stepping and changing a lot before the rest of the groove comes in to take the single home! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Fantasy, 1979. Very Good+
Killer funky cuts, back to back! "Glide" is an upbeat dancefloor tune that was one of the group's most popular numbers, backed here with another uptempo groover that's got lots of wah wah guitar moving really fast, and slick flanged-up vocals that groove in the band's best late mode. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Featuring Big Daddy Kane, Tevin Campbell, and many more. 12-inch, Vinyl record
