Sounds Of Sebring 1960 - World's Greatest 12-Hour Sports Car Endurance Race

LP (Item 842551) Riverside, 1961 — Condition: Very Good-

More groovy drag racing stuff, recorded as part of Riverside's Hot Rod series in the early 60's. The record contains highlights from the 1961 Sebring 12-hour endurance race. There doesn't seem to be that much happening in the way of tragedies or accidents, but the record's got lots of cool car sounds, racing along the track in a nice "doppler effect" sort of way.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Small black label Bill Grauer Productions pressing with microphone logo and deep groove. Cover has completely split seams and comes in two pieces.)

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

One of the greatest Jackie Gleason albums ever! The album has these warm lush orchestrations, with wordless vocals by "The Voices of Artie Malvin" wispily dreaming over it, hence the "Ooooo!" in the title. Tracks include "Thine Alone", "It's All Right With ... LP, Vinyl record album

Arthur Lyman

Life, 1965. Very Good+
Polynesia is a wonderful little set from Arthur Lyman – one that's got a swirling, hypnotic sound that's way better than the weak Hawaiian imitataions you might get on other Polynesian-titled records! Versatile Martin Denny
Liberty, 1963. Very Good+
Martin Denny definitely lives up to the versatile in the title here – working through a whole host of different 50s and 60s easy tunes – played in ways that are much wider-ranging than usual! Some are percussive and slightly exotic, some have more strings and tinkling piano, and some ... LP, Vinyl record album

Raunchy work from Duane Eddy – and quite late, too! The album's have a pretty weird sound – a bit trippier than some of Duane's earlier work, with more of a late 60s kind of edge. Before he started getting funky with the moog, Hugo Montenegro was doing some very groovy stuff with large vocal arrangements.
