Alabama State Troupers Road Show

LP (Item 841748) Elektra, 1972 — Condition: Sealed
Gatefold
A legendary live set from a short-lived, but equally legendary group – a really unique assemblage of talents that features core musicians from Muscle Shoals, mixed with lead vocals from Don Nix, Jeanie Greene, and the aging bluesman Furry Lewis – all brought together as a unit that really bridges sounds, generations, and styles! The work has plenty of echoes of Nix's own music, but the presence of Lewis and some of the backing players – as well as a gospel choir for backup – all reflects the deeper roots that inform Don's recordings, given much bigger focus here – at a level that blows away most contemporaries who were trying their own approach to blending rock and roots modes. Titles include "Brownsville", "I'm Black", "Amos Burke", "Mighty Time", "Yes I Do Understand", "Furry's Rap", "Iuka", "Joabim", and "Living In The Country".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(NOTE – Sealed original pressing, but with large holes and torn corners in the shrink. Cover has a cut corner, some stains/discoloration at the edges, and splitting in the top seam where exposed.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
