This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Amazing work from The Voices Of East Harlem – a group with roots in gospel, but working here in a wonderfully soaring secular soul style – complete with arrangements and production from the legendary Leroy Hutson! The style here is similar to some of Leroy's best work, and that of his ... LP, Vinyl record album
Smooth modern work from Rhetta – a singer who hit a rougher mode on earlier work, but who's singing here with arrangements and production by Kenny Lehman, who gives the record a bigger soul kind of feel. Titles include "Starpiece", "Living Without Your Love", "Treat ... LP, Vinyl record album
Wonderful work from Little Anthony – and a great update to his smooth 60s harmony sound with The Imperials! Anthony wisely employs the use of two of 70s top harmony arrangers on the album – using Thom Bell on one side, and Teddy Randazzo on the other – both of whom really help ... LP, Vinyl record album
Kind of a rock/soul album – recorded in Nashville, but with a sound that reminds us of some of the east coast mid 70s underground, particularly the funky groups on Buddah and Scepter that had a crossover sound. Some tracks are uptempo, with a club-heavy string section – and others are ... LP, Vinyl record album
A selection of tracks culled from the days when War were working with Eric Burdon – during the years 1969 and 1970, when the ex-Animal tried to show the world that he actually had some real soul cred, and hooked up with this hip funky combo from LA to lay down his groove. The tracks are very ... LP, Vinyl record album
A killer set from one of the most unique acts of the 70s – the legendary Hot Chocolate, a group with a sound unlike anyone else at the time! Hot Chocolate's groove was a bit soul, a bit rock, and often nicely funky underneath – and the British group really won lots of new ears on this ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nicely pivotal album by Ike & Tina Turner – one that has them still retaining some of the earthiness of earlier years, yet also honing their groove for the crossover audience that was digging them big at the end of the 60s! The best results of this shift is the increasing funk ... LP, Vinyl record album
A wicked set of groovers from Jimmy Bo Horne – produced with a snapping KC & The Sunshine Band groove, and proof that the Miami sound could still burn strong at the end of the 70s! The tunes are a mix of mellow numbers and funkier tracks that have a snapping "spank" sort of ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great example of the way that Gil Evans really opened up his groove in the 70s – moving here way way past the cool jazz and third stream of earlier years – into a soulful style that's far groovier than might be expected! Part of the strength of the set is because of the players ... LP, Vinyl record album
Tasty small group work from Groove – with Mr Holmes himself on organ, and the great Larry Willis on electric piano – coming up with a twin electric organ/piano sound that's similar to the one that Groove used on his Comin On Home LP for Blue Note. The difference here is that things ... LP, Vinyl record album
