Me & My Baby Got A Good Thing Going/I'll Never Let You Break Up My Heart Again

7-inch (Item 8345) People, 1972 — Condition: Near Mint-

An excellent hard-to-find track by Lyn Collins! "Me & My Baby" has a wonderful gospelly intro, similar to "Message to the Soul Sisters", which then leaps into a great groove with a nice hard soul hook! The flip has sort of a nice Muscle Shoals-ish sound, with some good popping guitar!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Killer funk! "Action Speaks Louder Than Words" is a great lost 70's funk track, with a slow loping groove, and a tight choppy hook that just crawls along nicely! One of the best cuts ever by this New Orleans band – and always a treat! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Uni, Late 60s. Near Mint-
2 nice ones from Desmond's late 60's LP for Uni. Very spare rocksteady groove, with spooky lilting vocals, sweet bubbling organ, and a choppy guitar rhythm throughout. 7-inch, Vinyl record

Barbara Jean English was one of the more diverse singers on the east coast scene of the 70s – and this single is proof of her range. "Breakin Up" is an uptempo track with kind of a polished club feel – but we like "Guess Who?" a lot better, as it's a great sweet ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Fantastic funk from Nat! "Calling Out Loud" has these stepping bass and electric piano parts that are just great, with wailing flute that bursts out into a full trumpet solo from Nat – really tasty, and stretching for the funky clouds! "Biafra Haifa" is more moody and ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
