(Early 90s issue. Cover has light wear and is bent a bit at the bottom right corner.)
Near Mint - (minus)
Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Mellow blues with a touch of jazz – a really great session cut by Jimmy Witherspoon, with backings by Bob Florence – played by a smallish group that includes Gerald Wilson, Herbie Harper, Earl Palmer, Gerry Wiggins, and Teddy Edwards! The sound here is nicely subdued – not that ... LP, Vinyl record album
Very cool work from Jimmy Witherspoon – a set that's different than some of his looser, bluesier work of the postwar years – as he works here with some tight, soulful arrangements from the great HB Barnum! Barnum brings a very different vibe to the set – almost currents of LA ... LP, Vinyl record album
Includes a whopping thirty-two selections over 2 LPs, with "Love Is A Simple Thing", "Yesterdays", "Good Morning Heartache", "Lush Life", "Summertime", "Perdido", "Baltimore Oriole", "All The Things You Are", and more! LP, Vinyl record album
Includes "Love Is Here To Stay", "How Many Stars Have To Shine?", "Sometimes I'm Happy", "Just One Of Those Things", "My One And Only Love", "I'll Remember April", "A Room With A View", and more. LP, Vinyl record album
A simple title, but a classic album – arguably one of Kenny Rankin's biggest hits of the 70s, but every bit as great as his lesser-known work! Don Costa arranged the set, but the sound is still wonderfully intimate – with a focus on Kenny's vocals and acoustic guitar, steeped in folksy ... LP, Vinyl record album
A killer album that's one of Joe's best! Unlike some of his other albums as a vocalist, in which the arrangements are a bit too cluttered to swing, this nice relaxed live set has Joe hitting a very soulful groove, and stepping out nicely on cuts like "Gravy Waltz", "Come Back ... One of our favorite-ever albums from Mel Torme – a set that sparkles with the same smooth swing as his best late 50s dates for Bethlehem records! Like those sets, this one features Torme's voice really taking off over some tight jazzy charts – arranged by Johnny Williams, Shorty Rogers ... LP, Vinyl record album
A mid 70s repackaging of one of the best vocal jazz albums that Bethlehem ever produced, and a landmark recording in the vocalese tradition! The first record ever from a young Bob Dorough – and easily one of his most swinging sessions! The style here is a bit straighter jazz than on some of ... LP, Vinyl record album
