Swingin' Fling

LP (Item 8338) Capitol, Late 50s — Condition: Very Good

Alvino Rey's swinging "wow-wow" guitar sounds a lot like Esquivel's use of pedal steel, and this album's a great bunch of work in that vein, with swinging strident arrangements that mix the guitar and baritone sax solos. Great hip bachelor pad stuff  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono rainbow label pressing. Cover has aging, a half split top seam, and light wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

That Lonely Feeling
Capitol, Late 50s. Near Mint-
One of the mellower albums from Alvino Rey – the amazing 50s pedal steel guitar (or console guitar) player who made some very cool records for Capitol! Although some of Rey's records for the label have the feel of Esquivel's best work, this one's a bit dreamier – still quite odd, and ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of the greatest Jackie Gleason albums ever! The album has these warm lush orchestrations, with wordless vocals by "The Voices of Artie Malvin" wispily dreaming over it, hence the "Ooooo!" in the title. Tracks include "Thine Alone", "It's All Right With ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fantastic! We love Burt Bacharach in so many ways that it's easy to forget the genius of these early A&M sides – but going back to them is always a treat, and it's wonderful to hear the way that Burt lays down his own work when given the chance!
