We Are Paintermen

LP (Item 833422) Hit-Ton Schalllatten (Germany), 1967 — Condition: Very Good+
Also available
Creation — We Are Paintermen (pink vinyl pressing) ... LP 16.99

A gem of a record from one of the coolest UK groups of the 60s – served up here in a German release that maybe gives The Creation one of their most vibrant covers ever! Despite the European issue of the material, the tracks here are all Brit brilliance from the group and producer Shel Talmy – served up in their incredible blend of mod grooves, garagey rawness, and early psych production – sharp and tight at the same time, and years ahead of its time! Titles include "Can I Join Your Band", "Making Time", "Tom Tom", "Biff Bang Pow", "Painterman", and "Nightmares" – plus covers of "Cool Jerk", "Hey Joe", and "Like A Rolling Stone".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Recent stereo reissue, HTSLP 3400.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Can't Break The Habit
Hit-Ton Schalllatten (Germany), Late 60s. Very Good
A great group with a really heavy crossover soul sound! Don't confuse these guys with the American group of the same name from the period, because this ensemble's a British act coming out of the mod scene – heavily steeped in influences from the American scenes in Memphis and Detroit, but ... An album so heavy, it blew plenty of minds when first released at the end of the 60s! Captain Beyond
Cotillion, 1972. Very Good+

Zoolook
Dreyfus (France), 1984. Very Good+
World sounds meet 80s electronics – and the result is a groundbreaking batch of tracks from Jean-Michel Jarre, one that sounds a heck of a lot better today than we remember 20 years ago! Jarre's got a great sound here – dark, evocative, and with enough colonialist tension between the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Reprise, 1967. Very Good+
An early moment of genius from The Electric Prunes – and exactly the kind of record that shows why they were a cut above their contemporaries, and why Warner really backed them strongly right from the start! Epic, Late 60s. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
Some of the most heavenly pop ever recorded – and a wonderful 2LP collection of work from the later years of The Zombies! Laurie Anderson

Big Science
Warner, 1982. Very Good+
One of the greatest albums to come from the New York underground of the early 80s – even if it was a relatively big "hit" on a major label! Gun
Epic, 1968. Very Good
Big, heavy late 60s British rock from Gun – with the raw, lumbering and bluesy (or better, bloozy) power trio core that's fleshed out in the studio with horns and other more sweeping touches!
