If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Used CD Grade
We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD".
This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer
Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play
without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove,
you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not,
then you may return it for a full refund.
With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of
surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be
clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we
handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted
otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so
look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.
A tribute to Ray Charles, but played by a hard-swinging, and mighty soulful ensemble – one that features Eric Alexander on tenor and Mike LeDonne on Hammond B-3! Both players really give the album a nice bite – and hearing Alexander next to LeDonnne's organ, we're reminded of Eric's ... CD
A masterful balance of tone and timing from trombonist Steve Davis – exactly the kind of record that shows why he's one of our favorite players on his instrument! The album's got a great feel right from the start – that soaring sort of soul that Davis seems to inspire in others with ... CD
A wealth of great work by one of the greatest British jazz groups of all time! The Jazz Couriers were a legendary outfit fronted by the twin tenor team of Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes – and who also featured, at varying times on this set, piano by Terry Shannon, trumpet by Jimmy Deuchar, and ... CD
A richly complex album from vibist Teddy Charles – easily one of his greatest albums ever, and certainly one with the boldest sound! The groups here are filled with hip players – all working under Charles' direction in a set of tracks that shimmers with dark sounds and moody colors ... CD
Drummer Jordan Young has a great quartet here – one that features Brian Charette on Hammond, who shapes the sound as much as Jordan's drums! In fact, the organ's so up front in the lead, the record might almost come across as being under Charette's leadership – but, like the time when ... CD
An amazing set of work by John Coltrane – some of his best recordings ever, tracks that form a pivotal point between his later 50s work with Miles Davis and his mid 60s spiritual searching years. The set's unbelievably exhaustive – and includes every track that was ever issued by ... CD
An expanded version of this rare album from Philly reedman Byard Lancaster – one that features bonus tracks from recent years! The "Then" part of the album is the album Personal Testimony from 1979 – a wonderfully lyrical and aptly-titled solo set by Lancaster! We typically ... CD
