Coolin' Out

LP (Item 82960) Gordy, 1985 — Condition: Very Good+

A second solo set from Temptation Dennis Edwards – a great set of mellow modern soul, with a very 80s approach to the production and arrangements. There's a bit of 80s production in the mix – handled by Dennis Lambert in a strong way that never overcomes the vocals – and titles include "Try A Little Tenderness", "State Of Limbo", "No Such Thing", "Why Do People Fall In Love" and "Coolin Out".  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Wings Of Love
Gordy, 1976. Near Mint-
After influencing countless groups of the 70s with their righteous funky soul of the late 60s, the Temps end up sounding kind of silly trying to hit a funk groove like the rest of the other 70s bands. Rick James

Glow
Gordy, 1985. Sealed
Rick James hits a smoother sort of style here – one that's almost a compressed take on the mainstream version of funk first crafted on his earlier records, fused into a more radio-friendly approach for the Prince generation! The sound's actually not that bad – and the record has an ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wild Tchoupitoulas

A great slice of New Orleans soul from the 70s – a record that replicates the "Indian" culture in the Mardi Gras scene – and which is most notable for featuring work by The Meters as well! A wonderful early album from soul singer Al Wilson – a well-crafted mix of modes that really stands out in late 60s pop – and which showed that Al was quite different than most of his contemporaries! Stax, 1973. Near Mint-
Warmly grooving 70s soul from The Staple Singers – recorded in a fuller Memphis mode that's miles from their gospel roots, but still plenty darn nice!
