Paul Motian didn't always record that much as a leader, but the dates under his own name are always compelling ones – and quite a change from his more famous work with Bill Evans! This set is a sparkling showcase of original tunes by Motian – played by a shifting array of players that includes Charlie Haden on bass, Sam Brown on guitar, Keith Jarrett on piano and flute, and Leroy Jenkins on violin – all with a much freer, more out sound than you might expect to hear on ECM in later years. The set's one of the standouts from the time when the label was nodding more in the free jazz directions of some of their European contemporaries – and Motion proves to be a surprisingly great choice for the session. All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
