Holy cow! Although some of Leonard Nimoy's albums were attempts to "get past" his Spock career, this one is a full-on Star Trek experience! Nimoy's on the cover, holding a replica of The Enterprise in front of some weird spider web design. On the wax, he's laying down great space stuff, like "Alien", "Twinkle Twinkle Little Earth", and "Visit to a Sad Planet". (Black label pressing. Cover has light wear.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Anita Kerr Presents Teresa
Dot, 1969. Very Good+
A groovy groovy little vocal set – sung by the little-known Teresa Bennett, and featuring some very cool production and arrangements from Anita Kerr! Kerr's definitely at her hippest here – possibly even more so than on her own best records of the late 60s – and the album's got a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Time & Love
CTI, 1972. Sealed Gatefold
An excellent 70s set by Jackie & Roy – very different than their work of the 50s and 60s, with an approach that's much more far-reaching and complicated – a style that opens up their vocal talents majestically! Gone are the simpler ditties of earlier years, and in their place are ... LP, Vinyl record album
Full Circle
Flying Dutchman, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
The last album in Leon Thomas' classic run of albums for the Flying Dutchman label – and one of the most unique as well! There's a tighter feel here than some of Thomas' more free-flowing spiritual jazz sessions – but the sound is hardly commercial at all, either – and still has ... LP, Vinyl record album
This Is Sinatra!
Capitol, Early 50s. Very Good
This Is Sinatra indeed – a wonderful collection of singles, and a near-lost album to the shifting sands of time! The record wasn't one of Frank's "album concepts" for Capitol, and has since been dismantled in the catalog – but for many in the 50s, this was one of THE Sinatra ... LP, Vinyl record album
Afro Blue
Trio (Japan), 1974. Near Mint-
One of the greatest jazz vocal albums of all time – and one of the first true moments of genius from a young Dee Dee Bridgewater! The album's a Japanese only release (proof that they're always hipper to our jazz artists than we are!) – and it features Dee Dee singing material that's ... LP, Vinyl record album
Pat Moran Quartet
Bethlehem, 1956. Very Good
Really lovely work from Pat Moran – leader of one of the grooviest groups of the 50s! The Pat Moran Quartet were unique in that they were both a jazz combo and a harmony vocal group – one that mixed two male voices and two female voices in a nicely swinging way that has plenty of ... Latin Pulse
Epic, Mid 60s. Very Good
Nancy sings some sweet Latin groovers in Spanish – backed by groovy 60s arrangements from Joe Sherman! The feel here isn't quite as driving as on her classic "Mas Que Nada" album – but it does have a similar style – sort of blending easy 60s vocals with swinging pop ... LP, Vinyl record album
Stroud, 1973. Very Good+
Killer work from Nina Simone's excellent Stroud Productions run – a set that wasn't issued by RCA in the early 70s, but which really matches the fire of her classics for the label! The setting's a live one, as you'd guess from the title – and most tunes are longish, with those key ... LP, Vinyl record album
Round & Round
Columbia (Japan), 1978. Near Mint-
A rare set from Japanese vocalist Kimiko Kasai – one recorded in America, but only issued in Japan – and featuring a set of tunes with English language lyrics, all done in a great mix of jazz, disco, and R&B! Herbie Hancock makes a great guest appearance on the set's funky remake ... LP, Vinyl record album
Carnival
Liberty, 1969. Very Good+
Like Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66? Then you'll love The Carnival! The group was formed by three former members of Sergio's group, working in 1969 with stellar LA pop production from the mighty Bones Howe – all grooving in a style that's got all the best traces of the Brasil 66 sound! The ... LP, Vinyl record album
Hello Amigos
RCA, 1960. Very Good+
A very unique outing – a set that mixes the sweet harmonies of The Ames Brothers with wild backings from Esquivel! Most of the tracks are in Spanish, and have Esquivel doing a standard Latin sound, but which also approaches his own solo work in some of the more unusual moments! LP, Vinyl record album
