Spirit Groove/Freakin's Fine

12-inch (Item 81656) Motown, 1979 — Condition: Very Good+

12-inch, Vinyl record

✈
A couple of 80s post disco grooves from Mandre, off the M3000 album! "Spirit's Groove" has these snapping beats on the intro, and plenty of keyboards that go "wheeeet" – all alongside catchy, bouncy, groove-heavy lyrics! "Freakin's Fine" has more wheeeet-y keyboards and a groove that's a bit more uptempo – stomping a bit on the bottom, but still pretty free and almost a bit jazzy at points.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Doobie-doo doobie-doo! One of the catchiest Roy Ayers dancefloor tracks ever – a bassy bumping thumper that wonderfully skirts the line between clubby and funky! "Got To Be Real" is one of the most amazing tracks of all time. Not only did it bridge the disco and soul worlds at the time, but through hip hop sampling, it also became an essential old school classic. Still sounds great today, and it's a cut that we can never get enough of. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Karen's big cut, the only one we'll remember her for, and a big campy track in its day. Served up here on an original West End single, with vocal and instrumental versions both stretching past the 8 minute mark. 12-inch, Vinyl record
