Great Moments With Keith Jarrett

LP (Item 807509) Impulse, Mid/Late 70s — Condition: Near Mint-
2LP
Early 80s compilation of Jarrett's recordings for Impulse, with sidemen that include Dewey Redman on tenor, Charlie Haden on bass, and Paul Motian on drums. Titles include "Fort Yawuh", "Konya", "Great Bird", "Everything That Lives Laments Mystery", "Le Mistral Angles", "Prayer", and "Pyramids Moving".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover is lightly faded at the top seam and is lightly bent at the bottom left edge.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Keith Jarrett

Eyes Of The Heart
ECM, 1979. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
Keith Jarrett hits some of the styles of his later ECM years – working here on both piano, soprano sax, and percussion – in a quartet with Dewey Redman on tenor sax and percussion, Charlie Haden on bass, and Paul Motian on drums and percussion. The first half features the long "Eye ... LP, Vinyl record album

Keith Jarrett

Expectations
Columbia, 1972. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A totally wonderful album from the young Keith Jarrett – and a set that's different than most of the pianist's other well-known modes – not his solo improvisations, not his successful trio material, and not even his more outside quartet modes of the 70s – but instead this ... Keith Jarrett

Koln Concert
ECM, 1975. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
A genre-defining moment from pianist Keith Jarrett – a record that really set the world on fire, and which continues to charm all these many decades later! Although Jarrett had already made some amazing music in a trio setting during the 60s, and in his more freewheeling groups with Dewey ... LP, Vinyl record album

John Klemmer

Intensity
Impulse, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold
Fantastic work from John Klemmer – hard-edged, exploratory, with a mix of spiritualism and soulfulness, and a few touches of easy soloing. Todd Cochran (Bayete) plays Fender Rhodes, Woody Theus is on drums, and Klemmer's got an echoplex hooked up to his tenor on a few cuts. The tracks were ... LP, Vinyl record album

Archie Shepp

Live In San Francisco
Impulse, 1966. Near Mint- Gatefold
A great counterpart to some of Archie Shepp's studio albums for Impulse – a live date recorded in San Francisco, with a slightly freer, sharper edge! The sound is almost free at times, but always with that strong sense of focus that Archie brought to his brilliant work of the time – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Impulse, 1966. Very Good- Gatefold
John Coltrane returns to the Village Vanguard – but his sound here is a lot more far-reaching than a few years before! The album's a great counterpart to the first Vanguard session – as it takes all of the bold, soaring energy of that date, and balances it with the newly introspective ... LP, Vinyl record album

Emil Richards

Spirit of 1976
Impulse, Late 60s. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of a rare few albums issued by hip LA vibist Emil Richards as a leader – a hell of a talent who also did a lot of studio work, but one that we really love when he gets a chance to step out front and shine! The set was recorded at Donte's, a very groovy club in the city – and in ... LP, Vinyl record album
Impulse, 1963. Very Good+
Soaring and soulful work from the legendary John Coltrane – a tremendous live set that's one of his best early 60s albums! The groove is open and free – filled with pulsating modal rhythms, and handled with a slightly more relaxed feeling than some of Trane's studio work from the same ... LP, Vinyl record album

John Coltrane

Ballads
Impulse, 1962. Near Mint- Gatefold
A perennial favorite in the John Coltrane catalog – a beautiful set of standards, handled in a warm laidback style – but which still has some of the depth of soul that John Coltrane brought to his more experimental work on Impulse Records! The album's a classic introduction to the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Impulse, 1965. Near Mint- Gatefold
Fantastic stuff – easily one of Archie Shepp's greatest albums, and certainly one of the pivotal points of 60s avant garde jazz! The album features Shepp leading a crack "new thing" line up that includes Ted Curson on trumpet, Marion Brown on alto, Joe Chambers on drums, Reggie ... LP, Vinyl record album

Milt Jackson

Memphis Jackson
Impulse, 1970. Very Good Gatefold
One of the grooviest albums ever from the legendary Milt Jackson – an upbeat, almost funky set of soul jazz tracks – played with some great grooves on the bottom! Those trademark Jackson vibes are firmly in place, but the setting is quite different from the staid sounds of the MJQ ... LP, Vinyl record album

Chico Hamilton

Man From Two Worlds
Impulse, Early 60s. Very Good+ Gatefold
A pivotal album for Chico – one that has him working with his hip group that included Charles Lloyd and Gabor Szabo, both of whom take Chico into a modal mode that would completely transform his sound! Lloyd's the center star on the album's version of his own "Forest Flower" – ... LP, Vinyl record album
