A great later album from this legendary San Francisco crossover soul combo! The set moves off the style of some of their earlier work for Reprise, and Cold Blood are really opening up their sound here – still staying quite soulful, but also going for the fuller finish of the west coast early 70s scene – and not trying to sound so much like a straight soul cover band. The shift is a good one – and while the mellower cuts may be a bit too mellow at times, the group's also still got enough of a groove on the best numbers, and makes good use of the studio to work up their funky playing. Includes a nice cover of "Kissing My Love", plus versions of "Baby I Love You", "Sleeping", and "I'll Be Long Gone". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
