George Jones Live At Dancetown USA

LP (Item 804010) Del Rio (UK), Mid 60s — Condition: Near Mint-
Fantastic work from the young George Jones – working here at the height of his powers, and in a raw live setting that's a nice change from some of the polish of his studio recordings of the 60s! George's voice is great – already hitting that wider range that marked his Musicor material as a huge step forward from his years on the Mercury and Starday labels – but the live setting also returns some of the grit of those early days, and has Jones working with the very romping Jones Boys combo – who can not only cook on stage, but also bring in some of the searing guitar that made George's initial singles appeal to the young rock market too. The group get a few instrumental moments in the spotlight, too – which makes for a nice addition to the set – and although the material had been issued before, this set goes back to the original tapes, remasters the whole set, and also features titles that include "Who Shot Sam", "White Lightnin", "Jole Blon", "Big Harlan Taylor", "The Window Up Above", "She Thinks I Still Care", and "Aching Breaking Heart".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
