Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Tipica 73

Salsa Encendidia
Inca, 1978. Used
One of the freshest groups on the New York scene of the 70s – really cooking on this firey set for Inca Records! There's some slight funky currents that really make the record stand out – a bit of keyboards from Sonny Bravo, and some sweet wah-wah guitar lines that don't seem to be ... CD

Beethoven's V (remastered edition)
Cotique, 1975. Used
A strange concept – possibly because of the disco popularity of Beethoven's 5th – but sounding nothing like that, and instead a wonderful album of strong salsa cuts! The cut "El Quinto De Beethoven" is a mad instrumental descarga – with no vocals, loads of great piano ... CD

Charlie Palmieri Y Su Charanga La Duboney

Pachanga At The Caravana Club
Alegre, 1962. Used
Killer early 60s work by Charlie Palmieri and his La Duboney group – a combo who were Charlie's equivalent to the La Perfecta lineup headed by Eddie Palmieri! Like that group, this one has a very sharp, modern approach to the Cuban style – one that's inflected by a deep knowledge of ... CD

Marvin Gaye

Midnight Love
Columbia, 1982. Used
Marvin Gaye's last album ever – and a sensuous batch of grooves that almost return him to the sound of Let's Get It On! The style here is a bit more modern, but the sound is still great – a smoother approach to soul than most of Gaye's contemporaries at the time, recorded in a way that ... CD

Ohio Players

Mercury, 1978. Used
While there was no naked bald lady on the cover of Jass-Ay-Lay-Dee, it is actually a move back towards the sweatier funk sounds of their more classic LPs. There's some tight playing and solid songwriting going on here, too, with a bit less of the smooth, sultry grooves with funky touches that ... CD
