This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
One of a great run of grooves from the legendary team of bassist Eldee Young and drummer Redd Holt – a smoking batch of instrumentals done in the best Chicago soul style of the time! Young and Holt got their start in the early trio of Ramsey Lewis – but here, they've fully expanded to ... LP, Vinyl record album
A wonderful album – one of those underground classics that seems to show up in everyone's record collection, even though it was never a huge chart hit. Double Exposure are part of the "second wave" of East Coast vocal groups – and like their contemporaries, they mix the sweet ... LP, Vinyl record album
Easily one of the best albums by Sugarcane Harris – thanks largely to Johnny Otis, who produced and arranged the set with the same messed-up, genre-crossing style of his own work! Given that Harris both played electric violin and sung in a raunchy bluesy style, it would take a genius like ... LP, Vinyl record album
A nice 70s collection of classic 60s ABC work by the early Impressions – not necessarily the group's biggest hits, but a nice batch of work nonetheless! The work is all seminal Chicago soul – recorded mostly with arrangements by Johnny Pate, sung with that sweet crackling harmony style ... LP, Vinyl record album
Bobby Brown's out to put his New Edition past firmly behind him here – stepping out in a range of pop soul numbers that still have a sound that's as fresh as his late teen look on the cover! The Brown cliches haven't settled into full effect here yet – and there's a boyish charm on ... LP, Vinyl record album
Lengthy afro-pop numbers and Nigerian grooves, recorded in the mid 70s by Prince Nico Mgbarga and his Rocafil Jazz group. 4 tracks in all: "Happy Birthday", "Adam & Eve", "Love &Unity for Africa" and "Sickness". LP, Vinyl record album
Plenty of echoes of Chess, King, and Atlantic Records here – a late 60s live performance by the Chambers Brothers – but one that's already retro-styled towards modes from earlier in the decade, and styles from the R&B years of the 50s! As with all the group's Vault LPs, the sound ... LP, Vinyl record album
A funky gem from reedman Manu Dibango – a set recorded hot on the heels of his huge Soul Makossa hit, and done with a similar blend of African roots and 70s funk! The main focus here is on the instrumentation – not just Manu's saxophone lines, but also some great keyboards too – ... LP, Vinyl record album
A seminal early work in Lacy's European career! The album was recorded in Rome in 1969 – one of the few BYG albums not to be done in Paris – and it features Lacy in a grup with cello by Irene Aebi (one of her first appearances on record with him!), plus drumming by Jacques Thollot, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Very very nice electric material by Hampton, recorded live at Montreux in 1973, and with a light open-ended groove that's got a sweet mellow feel. The record is similar to some of Ahmad Jamal's from the same time – with a sound that's not really funk, but which has some wonderful soulful ... LP, Vinyl record album
The first solo set from Peter Gabriel – and a record that was quite a surprise upon initial release – kind of a stripped-down variant of the energy that Gabriel brought to his early work with Genesis, presented in a nicely lean way that allowed for all the best focus on his key ideas! ... LP, Vinyl record album
A seminal set from 70s Pink Floyd – a set that took all the energy of Dark Side Of The Moon, and refined it into an even more complex sonic setting! The songs here move out spaciously – still very unified as an overall album, but often with all of these longer-form musical ideas, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
