Fresh mid 60s sounds from the New York Art Quartet – working in Copenhagen in 1965 – sharp material from a pair of sessions made for live radio broadcast! This version of the group featuring John Tchicai on alto sax, Roswell Rudd on trombone, Finn Von Eyben on bass and Louis Maholo on drums wasn't an active unit together for too long of a time, actually put together specifically for the sessions by Tchicai. The group had a fairly short history as an active unit in any line-up, so all recordings are notable, and this European version is quite special! The first half at the Montemartre Jazzhus in October of 1965, and the second half at the Concert House of the Radio House of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, 10 days later. Titles include Rudd's "Rosmosis", "Old Stuff", "Karin's Blues" and "Sweet V", plus Tchicai's "Sweet Smells", "Kvintus T", "Pa Tursdag", "Cool Eyes" and "Kirsten". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
