Open Letter

LP (Item 7925) Liberty, Late 60s — Condition: Sealed
The other side of the sixties – the Barry Goldwater, Middle America one. The follow-up LP to Victor Lundberg's hit single "An Open Letter to My Teenage Son", a Vietnam-era spoken word track in which a conservative father explains to his son that although rebellion is in the tradition that made America great, "If you burn your draft card, then I have no son!". Loads of conservative rants with music..."Dear Son, you asked my reaction to long hair or beards on young people". Well son, Victor's gonna give you an earful!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Martin Denny

Enchanted Sea
Liberty, 1959. Very Good
A great album by Denny, with a nice approach that has sort of a drifting South Seas feel! The record is one of his last good ones for Liberty, and has lots of nice tracks like "My Isle Of Golden Dreams", "Beyond The Reef", "Flotsam & Jetsam", and "Cross ... LP, Vinyl record album

50 Guitars Of Tommy Garrett

Maria Elena
Liberty, 1963. Near Mint- Gatefold
Cool 60s work from guitarist Snuff Garrett! Maria Elena takes a host of older Latin themes and tunes them towards a hip 60s style – using the overdubbed guitar approach of the 50 guitars group, and really stretching the sound out wide towards the farthest reaches of both speakers! Snuff ... LP, Vinyl record album

Martin Denny

Quiet Village
Liberty, 1959. Very Good
An undisputed classic in the exotica genre – and the record that yielded Martin Denny his biggest hit! The title track "Quiet Village" was originally written by Les Baxter, but it was Martin Denny's approach that really managed to send the tune over the top – using spare ... LP, Vinyl record album

Exotica Vol 3
Liberty, 1959. Near Mint-
Sublime late 50s work from Martin Denny – his third album under the Exotica banner, and almost a deeper and weirder album than the other two! Primitiva
Liberty, 1958. Very Good
One of Martin Denny's greatest albums – thanks to some extra special added elements! For the record, Denny's classic quartet is augmented by a wealth of odd added percussion – including gongs, cymbals, tuned logs, steel drums, chimes, and "chromatic bamboo"! All of these ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jackie Gleason

Music To Change Her Mind
Capitol, 1956. Sealed
The album's one of Jackie Gleason's finest – and a perfect demonstration of the lush, romantic backings that he did so well for Capitol during the decade – an approach that was very much in direct contrast to Gleason's pyrotechnic personality in TV comedies, but which was a surprisingly ...
